If you punch louvers or know someone who does lets see some good closeup photos. Not all louvers are the same, you'll find that out wet sanding them. Thinking about having a Model A hood side done and would like to see what is out there.
What is this panel in post 6 last pic Great workmanship all round love the louvered and scalloped hood Kiwi Kev posted
no one told me when I built my punch, that louvering a large hood was like power lifting for 2 hours.
Here's what my press can do. 3 inch traditional, curved ones. I'm in SE Penna. Jerry Homemadehardtop57
Very cool picture's of louvers I would say. now it just makes me want to get a louver press even faster, where can i get one?
Here's a good shot of the really nice shape of louver done by the weird and wacky Chip Quinn, here in Phoenix. Don't ask about the louver layout though, he is the Louver Nazi!! hahaha "uhhhh, Chip, I want 2 rows punched here", "this needs THREE rows! Please leave, NO louvers for you!" Want the best louver shape for your hot rod needs, check out Chip, sorry for the SSPAM, but they be pretty....
Thanks for all the posts so far. The louvers I really liked years ago were on the Bugatti GP bodies California Metal Shaping made for Bunny Phillips. Wish I'd takes photos back then.
These were done by Sir Michael's In Huntington Beach, CA. This was the Chuck Price Roadster, the car on the first cover of Rods & Customs magazine back in 1953. I restored/reconstructed the car for the significant 75 last year.
