Nitro @ Bg

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Beep, May 26, 2008.

  1. Any further word on nitro being avaiable or not at BG? I am having a very difficult time finding any in Houston area, but then again, I don't know a lot of nitro burners from here. I only need about 10 gallons since my car is show/cackle only. I have the Alky I need. Anyone out there know any more today?

I heard a well known top fule racer had 100 barrels that he had bought up and was not selling to anyone. The goverment has gotten involved because of terrorist threats that involved bombs being made with nitro like the ones used in OKC. It is just speculation but all the local racers are saying it is true and they are running out

  4. I talked to VP fuels in San Antonio and they said that they are not allowed to sell any right now due to the Government dudes. They can sell only at NHRA National events at the moment and that may be stopped.

Dudes, I screwed if I do't get around ten gallons. No nitro,,no BG and no HAMB drags.

Man this SUX ! One of the fuel guys who was making the nitro tells how easy it is to make . Homeland gets involved and he sales it the business to china. China is having the games over there so they shut it down because of polution. So no nitro for a while. We are prisoners in our on land. It takes around 30 min. to get on a flight. You cant walk your daughter to the to the jet. Now there taking away the NITRO and gas. Whats next ? Coffee ? I hope not Advil . I'm ok now.

Beep, a buddy of mine goes to a race shop in the Woodlands for all his parts. I've seen the store and they have VP signs all over the place. They're down on Sawdust past Grogans Mill. You may try calling them.

NHRA needs to step up to the plate and help these guys out!! They just through their hands up and tell these Cacklefest guys, "you're on your own for nitro". Thats BS. The largest sanctioning body in the world that uses nitro can't find enough for some old dragsters to burn up???? They are to busy fineing Schumacher for having "unapproved nitro"....Come on NHRA, (Steve Gibbs) help these guys out!!!!

The earthquake in China didn't help matters either.. Another NASTY rumor I've heard is that if the Nitro doesn't start coming in, NHRA will stop selling it all together and only supply it to there TOP FUEL TEAMS for National events... The old saying, "The Show Must Go On"

Also heard about Shoemacher.. He's the one with a 100 barrels.

VP has some but there holding it for NHRA.

Richcraft Mike and I are on Don Trasin's team with the Jade Grenade and the ****oose. I spoke with Don, he has enough for both cars.

Good luck to all you guys looking. Hope you do okay.

Oh snap! Whats the deal with that.. is it the same? Reason I ask is cause my buddy has an "outta the ba*****t" company selling his own special blend fo RC cars.. I know he buys Nitro in big enough quan***ees to have the authorites looking at him so he chilled for a while a month or so ago. I'm sure he still has some... If its the same, I'll bring some of his for The fellow racers at BG.

  18. The RC stuff is 20% Nitro, formulated for 2.5 engines. So could it be blended for use in a dragster?

Doiesn't it have some kind of lube mixed in with it? That wouldn't work out too well.

NHRA will be there with Nitro, at a NHRA event that is the only nitro you can run or purchase as of now

SO there should be plenty of nitro for everyone, I may have to try 2-3%

That's only at the national (big show) events. Steve Gibbs said there will be no fuel supplier at Bowling Green. Everybody's on their own for nitro.
Have you heard something different in the last day or two?

NHRA has banned all nitro testing on Mondays following National events and all other testing is to be @ Non-National Event tracks, due to the Nitro shortage.

  29. Mike, I will call you on Monday. I did have some luck. I found 10 gallons of 50/50 and 10 gallons of 100% so I am good for BG. Beyond that, who knows.

    This is crazy huh ..

Sounds like Don caught NHRA / VP fuel picking asparagus ..
The "no testing" on Monday is direct attack to stop Don from providing fuel for that ..which, he got fined 100k for a few months back (atleast, that seems to be some of the issue as well)

Hard to think that one day NITRO racing would be gone ..Man I'm glad I got to see what I did /while I did .. :(
