If you end up making your own get the best material available, 1018 Cold Roll or better. If you don't tig weld have it done professionally. If you heat the material don't burn the carbon out. We all know that safety is no accident. Ch***is Engineering has forged steering arms and I've used them, very good material, but I don't know if they have arms for your application.
