Just had to say a few kind words on my heap. I basically pulled it out of Winter storage, unplugged the trickle charger, filled it up and drove. It's a '63 Galaxie Wagon with the original (and tired) 352 and three on the tree. Over the weekend I put 485 miles on her driving from near Lexington, KY to Tipp City, OH for Blacktop Bandit's get together (which ROCKED by the way), then down to L'ville for Beatersville and back home on Sunday evening. I drove the first 180 mile leg of the trip on 5/8 of a tank of gas! Got up Monday morning and loaded the weedeater and shop vac in the back and headed to the folks' place to help with some home improvement. Pulled back into the drive later that evening as the tripmeter clicked onto 485 and the heater hose blew bigger than HELL. Puked all over the drive, but I didn't care a bit! My baby had gotten me home one more time. This NEVER happens to me. Usually a breakdown occurs in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, and in the middle of a downpour. Sorry for the rambling, but I had to share my rare good fortune. - RBR
Ya know, as soon as you brag a car up, it's gonna break down again. That's cool it's been running good for ya. Any pics of it? Maybe you've posted them on here before? Malcolm
Man that's funny, as you know I took the Brookwood down to Brian's ran great, no problems there and back. I cleaned it up monday and I was going to bring it to work today, since Billetproof is coming up I figured I'd make sure everything is ok. I got out of my driveway and noticed a line of fluid down the drive. I pulled back in and popped the hood, trans fluid EVERYWHERE! The trans cooler broke. So I parked her, and I'll fix it tonight after work. All I told her was thank you for doing this in the driveway instead of I-75.
I'd brag on it too, it's a very cool wagon. I was bummed Sunday morning when I woke up and it...and you two, were gone. Sounds like you had a great day on Sunday though. Wonderful seeing both you and AJ at Brian's. Looking forward to hanging out at the Cinematic together. xoxoxo
Seriously...how long did it take to come up with that ***le? Well it was worth it cuz I'd be braggin on that wagon too! real cool! Make sure you show your wagon this post, I bet it would appreciate it. I am afraid mine only hears curses and is developing a hate for me.
I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the kind words on my old bus. I haven't really done much to it since I bought it a couple of years ago. I was thinking it would be nice to have some cool pics to post but didn't think I had any. Then I remembered taking a couple of shots the day I bought it. In the first one you'll see John, the great guy I bought it from. Not only was John the original owner of the car, the address where I picked it up was the same address the car was delivered to in 1963! The town is near San Diego, CA. Also in the ba*****t were two Model A's (Sedan and Coupe) and a '55 T-Bird! All original California cars. He wasn't sure of selling the A's and his daughter stepped in and wanted the Bird to take to Alaska! Hope you enjoy the pics. Bob, As of right now, I'm not planning on taking the wagon, but don't dare me son! I'm crazy like that. How about you? Bringing the Lincoln, the Caddy, or the Possum eatin' Apache? - RBR
I double dog dare you........ Right now, probably the Apache....It's my new fav and it's so cl***y - just like me.
Glad to hear good news on the wagon. Looks good! And Bob, I agree, the Apache is a good choice to bring.
Over the years I've had lotsa stuff go in my garage & driveway. Bateries, starters, radiators, etc. Once I was backing out and the lower ball joint broke on my everyday Grand Marquis! I would brag about that wagon too. Very cool car, and not too many left! Bernie Scheuerman
