New Projects, what did you drag home this weekend

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kerry, Jun 27, 2004.

  1. I did OK this weekend. Yesterday I drug home parts for a 37 Chevy Pickup. We had to cut down three trees that were grown in the frame. It had been taken apart in 1966 and sitting in the tree row ever since. It is very rough with lots of rust but it was cheap. There is another much rougher cab and some magled fenders to pick up yet.

Today I picked up a 36 Chevy Master two door sedan. I'm pretty excited about this one as a full fendered family hot rod.

    Anybody else score this weekend?

No cars, but I did score a free mid-70s boat.(Manatee Boats) It's rough, but that just means I can do it however I want.

Great find's. Buick look's soild, alt./gasser look would be killer indeed.

  9. I was STRONG! FlyinJ1 took his roadster to the swap meet today [with Tic-Toc] and I ran into 'em. Ol' Flyin had his roadster there with a running 8-BA in it and a full synchro 3 speed....cowl steering all hooked up and aftermarket wide-5 aluminum rear hubs on a 9 inch etc etc etc and he offered it to me for a rediculously low price.....I didn't take it. Can you believe it? I actually had the money in my pocket and I didn't bite!
Instead, I actually bought only Pontiac parts for my '41. Ok, ok...I bought a pair of those really ugly M/T aluminum valve covers but I think I can cut away the oogly parts and...............yeah, they really are ugly.
Here's a photo of Flyin's roadster about 7-8 months ago before it had the split bones, engine, etc etc... Yeah, it's a little rouogh but it's only mocked up fer Christsakes.

bought a 26-7 Model T chassis. Good rails (what they're good for I don't know), axles, springs, etc.

Also picked up a 90's Impala SS posi...again what it's good for I dunno.

More junk to step over I guess

KR, I had my eye on the 64 olds. It was up before and I never called as I have too many irons in the fire right now. I drove a 64 Culass in high school and have always wanted to find another one. I had really hoped to find one that wasn't quite so much of a project.
The one I thrashed was white with red interior and a 3 speed on the column which I eventually converted to a M-21 Muncie.
That car would beat almost all the 327s and 350s back then and would still get 18-19 mpg out on the road. And it forgave me of more high school insanity than I care to remember. I drove that car like something was after me for over three years, even put a rock through the oil filter and drove 4 miles home with out any oil once and it went on to live afterward with no noticable problems.

I drooled all over the "puter, hopin some one would buy the 32 so's i could get Dusty's Ford Found a 54 Chebby two door in GREAT shape that would go with the "herd"

Talked the wife into Burgers and dogs for the HAMB drag weekend(see post on Drags board).

  16. Dad and I drove up to Wilmington Sunday and got a cylinder head for my new 235 from fellow Hamber, Dago Red (Ian). It was a gorgeous day and a great drive. We only got a little lost, but that's what happens when the GIRL NAVIGATES! [IMG]

Anyway, I'm feeling the HAMB love right now because I managed to get the part I needed for Faye's new engine for the low low price of free and got to meet another HAMBer to boot.

Thanks a gazillion Ian! and the HAMB...

Now I need to make something special to auction off for the HAMB gods.

  19. Got the 8ba out of the F-1

  20. Took my car to the Goodguys gig with a small for sale sign. I insulted a bunch of tirekickers and drove it home. The swapmeet was a big waste of time. The racin' was good though. Murphy put down a 5.85!!
