Finally joining the definitive source for hot rod enlightenment...

I am in process on a 1931 Ford PU. I built the frame from scratch using two new rails. Z'd front and back. The cab is channeled about 4". I chopped the top 2.5". The original bed is bobbed about 9 inches. First time doing all.

The truck has a Tremec 5 speed (used because the shifter can be put in the "right" location). The engine is a numbers matching 1963 Corvette 340hp 327 some idiot pulled out of his '63 split window so he could have modern fuel injection. I am trying to keep the truck 1963 and back (tranny excepted).

I have a tail dragger 1950 Chevy Fleetline 2 door with a built 1959 235. Split manifold, dual intake, Howard's cam. 1954 3 speed on the column. It is a mild custom with extended fenders with 1954 Merc. tail lights. The interior is currently out to fix some floor damage.

I am looking forward to advancing my degree in hotrodology by gleaning what I can from those who have been there before.

That place still growing like crazy?? I know loveland and Ft. Collins are pretty much one city now. You guys get any of the tornado that tore thru there??

    Thanks for the welcome!

Berthoud is still the little town it always was...about 5000 residents. It has missed the big growth of the other towns nearby. That is fine for us. No big city problems. I can leave the keys in my cars out front and still find them there in the morning.

Are you talking about the motocross track at I-25? If so, it is still there. Maybe a little bigger than it used to be. The state makes them water it to keep the dust down. Probably costs more to use it than it used to. Colorado National Speedway is still running down south a few exits. Rural Weld County 2 lane roads are still hot...but that's another story.

The tornado missed us by about 15 miles. The worst damage was in Windsor, about 20 miles from here. I helped with the emergency building inspection effort the day after. We looked at 600 addresses and deemed 100 of them so damaged that they were no longer habitable. Bad news for those people.
That thing started in Platteville and went clear past Windsor. They say it was on the ground for an hour. I had the '62 Vette out that morning trying to diagnose a tranny issue. I managed to find a place to hide while the spin-off hail went past. That's as close as I EVER want to get to one of those storms again.

    Pictures to come soon.

Crazy!!! I just joined the HAMB today and I'm from Berthoud too (and it sure isn't a big town!). I'm in vet school in Oregon for a few more weeks but will be back in Berthoud this summer building a 38 Ford truck. My folks live there and we're building this as a father-son deal.

Send me a PM sometime if you need a hand or maybe I'll catch you at A&W sometime! Are they doing the cruise night in town at Fickle Park again this summer?

Anyway, give a shout if you ever need a hand.

    Jeff:

Good coincidence! It is good to form an alliance of fellow rodders and would welcome the help. Same goes for you also. A buddy of mine has a couple of '35 trucks and might be a good resource for parts and info for your '38 project. He is in Steamboat. He does a lot of major swaps around the US and is good parts source.

Looks like the cruise is back in Loveland. It now moves around at the whim of Papa Wheelie. There are signs around Loveland that have an In and Out type logo on them. Supposedly have a website also.

We like in old town north of the park. I have a building by the tracks. You may see us around in a Maroon '62 Corvette. That's the only thing road worthy right now. My wife has a nice '68 Camaro and '67 Ford Mustang. She has the time, but rarely drives them. I am thinking about buying her a big block for the Camaro to get her interested again!

    See ya around!
