I work at an engine shop. Everytime a Corvette owner calls, I have to bite my tounge. "Is that a Vette block? They were Vette only you know", "Mine is the Pace car edition, so it has a higher performance engine". I need a specific casting number so I don't loose points at the show with my 85 L98". Drives me nuts. I hate Vettes and the attitudes they give to people. Mustang and Pontiac guys are just as bad.

  3. I live in the original home of "Bloomington Gold", believe me most of us were glad when these guys left town for good. Not all fit the mold, but the vast majority do.

You left out that Vette gal has to wear the panties that say "Wrap your ass in fiberglass" with a corvette emblem on them.
FYI ....Available at the Pomona swap meet in the Vette section:D

My dad was a Vette guy for years ... now he's a she. No shit, maybe that's why I have a subconscious disdain for corvettes, but then again, I've got a valid reason.

What would the HAMB be without the Fashion Police?
"I hate those guys with the satin jackets"
"I hate those guys with the Mopar musclecars"
"I hate those guys with the BMWs"
"I hate those guys with the shiny paint"
"I hate those guys with the Tupperware cars"
"I hate those guys with the Stock Model As and Ts"
"I hate those guys with the Crybaby dolls"
"I hate those guys with the (fill in the blank space here)"

IMO, making judgements about people we don't really know seems stoopid. Many HAMBers come on here talking the same trash about grey haired guys in shorts and Hawaiian shirts. Never heard of Gray Baskerville, I guess...

Just saying that being rude to people might just keep you away from that Barn Find we all wet dream about. Only saying...

  14. i've got a 60 vette, my father has a 57 vette. both of us HATE vette guy. vette guy hates us and our cars. old vettes make good hotrods. both of our cars have next to no original parts. they do have bigger, hotter motors than stock, mag wheels, etc. i WILL NOT associate with true VETTE PEOPLE, only people who appreciate vettes as hotrods or racecars

I hate MOST but not all corvette owners. The hot rod vette guys are o.k. but the anal restorer types I have no use for.

20 years ago I worked for an association that put on shows throughout the country. I have hated corvettes ever since.

The corvette owners were the worst of any car group. PERIOD. They wanted the best parking spots, wanted to be judged first, wanted the most classes etc. Total primadonna's.

I would usually have a local car club help at the show. One time I got a corvette club. Never again after that. You should have heard them deriding every non-corvette there. It was truly sickning. I would often have Mopar, Chevy or Ford groups help judge , help register cars etc etc. Never did they cut down other people cars like the corvette people did. Most car guys enjoy other makes of cars. Might makes non harmful jokes but not the corvette scum. As with many shows our events had a people's choice award. The corvette club were flabbergasted when a corvette did not win the people choice award. They could not fathom that happening-a corvette not winning the "prize".

At one time there was a bumper sticker that said "If you don't drive a Corvette you ain't sh*t" or something to that effect. Sums them scum bag idiots up perfectly.

    Very nice...

  17. I like older Vettes. I have a 64 Fastback that looks like an old Drag car. But, I consider myself a guy with a Vette, and not a "Vette Guy". Those are the guys that wear Vette hats, shirts, key fob, dash cover, and floor mats all with the Vette logo. And they do tend to look down their noses at the rest of us. I was at Pomona swap meet 20 yrs ago and waiting my turn to talk to a guy selling a Vette. After being ignored for a long time, prolly due to my looks, I finally threw my number at the guy, and told him, soon as you're done answering these dumbass questions that obviously WON'T lead to a sale due the dumbass content of em, call me. He called me the next day and I just about made him kiss my fucking ass over the phone. I let him know I saw him glance my way several times the day before while answering a better dressed guys stupid fucking questions, and didn't appreciate him being a douche. I told him I had $40K cash in my jacket pocket the day before, and was ready to spend it. But, he coulkd stick HIS car up his ass

The old Vettes are cool and deservedly so (up to about the early 70's like a lot of US performance cars). They were good cars and fairly unique and deserving of somewhat of a reputation. But then bingo, with reputation comes people with no real ability to think on their own who can only go after what others have decided are cool. Unfortunately a lot of these are people with a lot more money than style and/or brains. Add that to the fact that after the early 70's Vettes pretty much suck and I will go out on a long limb and say that is true even with then new Vettes which do perform pretty well (especially for the price) but are nothing more than cheap wantabe Ferraris and Lambos which are clearly much better cars with much higher price tags. I would guess that most Vette guys would trade their Vettes in a second for a Ferrari or Lambo if they could actually afford it.

Vettes themselves aren't inherently cheesy, but most people who drive Vettes are and that is pretty much a fact. The word "Vettes" is also by itself cheesy and anyone with enough class would call them Corvettes like they are suppose to be. I would say the early cars are Corvettes and the late 60's on are Vettes with the mid-60's to early 70's ones going either way depending on detailing and who is behind the wheel.

What? You have got to be kidding me. Is this the next gen. Vette? If so, that is just sad in my book. They seem to be continuing the copy method of style then if so. Corvettes were cool when they were trend setting, not like now when they are trend followers and not very good ones at that. I hope this image is from just a weak tack on accessory display for the current Vettes.

The old Vettes are cool and deservedly so (up to about the early 70's like a lot of US performance cars). They were good cars and fairly unique and deserving of somewhat of a reputation. I would guess that most Vette guys would trade their Vettes in a second for a Ferrari or Lambo if they could actually afford it. If that one photo posted is the next generation style, that is pretty sad as it is no better and I would say about 10 years behind at best. Just a cobbled together cut and paste of currently popular detailing trends - weak!

Vettes themselves aren't inherently cheesy, but most people who drive Vettes are and that is pretty much a fact. The new Vettes are a good example of how US companies have lost their creativity and edge and balls to as far as that goes. The Corvettes use to be unique and styling and performance leaders across the globe. Clearly can't say that anymore. Kind of sad really.

I know a guy who has a Z06. His wife and mine work together, so I get to see him at all the work get-togethers.

Every freaking time I see him, it's the same thing:
vette guy - "how much horsepower did you say your hot rod has?"
    me - sigh - "I don't really know"
vette guy - "OH!, my Z06 has ___ hp!" (don't remember how much HP he says it has because I couldn't possibly care less).
me - (looking around the room for someone else to talk to).
vette guy - "I bet my 'vette is faster"
me - "I'd hope so, since it is a brand-new sports car and mine is 68 years old - and I built it by myself - in the garage - and it's not supposed to be fast - it's a custom"
vette guy - (looking around the room for someone else to talk to).

    Best corvette story ever.

Back in the 80's , Rod Saboury (pro street and fastest street car fame)took a award winning survivor bloomington gold corvette and chopped it apart and made it into a award winnning pro street car.

I remember the corvette people literally hated the guy for doing it.

It would have been even better if he tubbed it at the bloomington corvette show with a hacksaw. I would have paid to see that.

I have a friend who is a vette guy. the wife drives a late model Z06, he has a 72 LT-1 for autocross with 400+ dyno'd horsepower. he has had a bunch of different vintage vettes...usually the 68 - 72 style, though he did have a nice 63 - 67 one for a while.he's got a brain like a magnet and never forgets anything. he's alway spewing forth useless corvette trivia like anyone cares.

most of the time he says anything my answer is "that's why I like HOT RODs... we don't give a shit about any of that crap". he doesn't even care... he's busy telling his vette story to anyone who will listen.

he's a good mechanic and builds all his own stuff. his 72 LT-1 has run somewhere in the 12's, and I believe the Z06 is equally fast from the factory.

he does not understand anything other than corvettes and Z/28's. he thought I was a lowrider because my old 49 chevy was low. when I put astro supremes on my 61 dodge he went on for 5 minutes with a crappy mexican accent talking shit.

I don't think the vettes made him an asshole... he was just born that way.

ok I've experienced this type of thing... and I was there IN a vette.

I have a fairly rare '70 vette, took it to a local show for fun. Got the "vette guys" nit-picking it and telling me it couldn't be real. I was just a dumb kid right? I had 2 guys actually had the nerve to say "You put that 370hp sticker on there right?" I got irritated with them and left them to answer thier own questions. Came back later and the came to the conclusion it was real, then wanted to be my best friend.
