seems like your build process treats this like it's made of clay. i think it's your approach that's making this even more interesting.

will be interested to watch this one Kevin, a bit of a different approach, looks to be working out nice.
Your donor 1/4's don't have the section around the trunk opening (sort of 6 inches in from the trunk opening towards the wheels.....)by any chance ??

Can't completely follow. Find a picture and circle what you need and I'll see what I have.

    Kevin...or can I call you Grimlok... :)

I really like the doors, chop and the angled A-pillar...but I have something for you to think about on the windshield. How about tightening up the radius on the lower corners of the windshield...to come closer to the doors and quarter windows. The lower corners just look to round to me for the rest of the car. Just my 2 cents...which may or may not fit your vision.

    Carry on.

  8. BAD***!!!!!!! I really would have never thought of this treatment. Wish I had. I do not know if this will make you feel better or feeling that you are not alone, but click on my name and see the 5 window that I am working on and I think you and I have coupes in the same condition. Please keep the updates coming.

That sketch is kind if weird. There will be a sheet metal filler at the bottom of the windshield, but there are a few different surfaces meeting there and I think it will break up that area more. But... you are right, there is more metal down there with the lower corners being round instead of pointed.

Maybe I'll get some cardboard and masking tape, fill it in how I'm picturing it and shoot it all with a single color. See how it looks. Pics later tonight maybe.

  11. Awesome work Kevin. It definitely has that dry lake/early drag coupe look, good work. :D

Kev..I have no critique or witty criticism....Frankly I'm impressed at the progress you've made...especially, given where you started.

Your vision, apparently has been well thought.

I cant wait to see what transpires next.

Looks great, I think the drip rail indication is cool too, just maybe pull the gutter back to follow the door cut all the way down and pull the "ramped up" beltline trim (on the cowl) back toward the door to intersect the drip rail. Still a nice S shape but not floating on the A pillar.

Hey Jeff, are your cobbler's projects done? My boys need new shoes!!

What is this? East coast greaser speak? I first read these words a few years ago by Chuck Vranas in Street Rodder.
    What is it derived from?

  23. love it, although I'd like to add a twist to the topic.....chew it up and spit it out if you like...

I've got a very big love of 'whacked' 33/4 coupes, to which, I offer the following example, illustrating the area being discussed....

Now, granted, that's Rudy's coupe, which, stating the obvious is not an A, but I feel you're chasing the same end result in this particular area. Hence, I'd loose the rounded lower corner of the gl***, or at least minimise it so that it visually blends the join/transition of the 'a' pillar, to which the rain gutter/lip is effectively doing the same (although more from the side view), trying to offer a 'flowing' look, rather than it being just a transition which captures your eye....

Just a thought, either way that car is coming along sweet, make it happen.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus
