I left my 53 out in the driveway saturday night since I was mid chop on another car in the garage. Damn Thieves swiped my spotlights, caps, air cleaners, offy linkage, and tried to get my 3x2 setup. Sunday morning I stood in disbelieve that anyone who would want a 3x2 would steal it off another mans car. Luckily getting the carbs and intake off is a bitch due to the lack of room with the gennie and waternecks ect. Several nuts were missing and I hoped they had dropped or pocketed them. On the safe side I cleaned the garage out and PUSHED it back in. I pulled the top end of the motor apart and sure enough, they couldn't steal it so they dropped the nuts they got off down the carbs. I should have shot the damn watchdog that barks at everything but didnt hear a thing saturday night.

Thank god I was thinking enough that I didnt fire it up and pull it out of the driveway. I got mucho bucks into the flathead and would never be able to afford to rebuild it before the end of the year.

  4. Its a disease I think.
Seems to be ab awful lot of getting someone elses stuff and messing with someone elses ride going around these days.
I thought we were past that, but I guess not.
I used to never run a hoodless car for just that reason. And it was common back when I was a kid to see cars with a chain and paddlock on the hood.
I think what has happened is that people see this stuff going high on EBay and see a fast buck.
I don't thing its gearheads that are doing it. As is proven by the fact that they didn't get away with your tri-power.
One of us woulda had that bugger. Of course one of us wouldn't even dream of takeing it in the first place.

I know the midnight autoshop is nothing new these days...but I got to wonder if the availablity of something like ebay (as good as as it is) is somehow adding fuel to this theivery.

Then again you might check with ratrod40428 I hear he likes to fuck with another man's car. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

  7. I had a simular thing happen where the noisy dog didn't do it's thing. Come to find out the Damn Dog knew who they were. That's why she didn't bark. Better pay attention to who's around you really don't know, and do they make a point of playing with your Dog.

Good thing you checked the intake for the nuts. I'd probably have been too pissed to think straight, fixed it, started it, and eaten a valve or piston.

    Headline I'd like to see:
"The body of a parts thief was found today after police followed a blood trail down the road and into a dumpster. Apparently someone had tied him to the bumper and dragged him."
"Officer who found the body stated he'd never seen one with so many stolen parts shoved up his ass!"

Yeah, yeah, we all know ratrodders are a bunch of compulsive thieving bastardos, can't be trusted [IMG]

  15. you should be able to kill people that fuck with your car. i've used those "tamper proof" bolts on customers intakes (and my own). like 3 or 4 placed in out of the way holes, it's the ones that have a domed head (like a carrage bolt), with a torx hole and a pin in the middle. the tool you need is a torx socket with a hole in the middle. can't get them off with vise grips or anything except the tool (maybe a chisel but you would hear that). i fucking hate people [IMG] [IMG]..........we need a good plague.

After having my last truck stolen, and then FINDING THE BASTARD RUNNING MY PARTS TWO DIFFERENT TIMES AND THE COPS LETTING HIM GO!!!!!!!(insurance settled up with me, so I wasn't the victim anymore, the ins. co. was, and the cops didn't want to bother for the insurance company) I've started taking a paint pen and writing things on my shit where people won't see it unless...
Like on the inside of my new wheels--THESE WHEELS ARE STOLEN FROM SSN. and then my soc. number. That way when the fuck takes the wheels and tires to a shop to have new tires put on or whatever, the mechanic might start asking questions.
Write something under the bottom of the intake manifold. Stuff like that.
    Just makes me feel better.
Oh, and here in Georgia a couple weeks ago, a female security gaurd saw a 16 year old kid driving away in her car, drew down and shot him in the head, killing him. Great shot, but she's being held for murder now. I think it should be open season on the predator vermin that prey on us law-abiding types, but unfortunatly first they goad us into protecting our stuff, and then they sue us when we stop them.
It's a shame we're all judged as being equal and valued just because we're human. Seems to me that if someone makes a living stealing from and hurting others, we shouldn't be on the same level--they're animals, and should be dealt with as such.

LMFAO!!! That is too funny!!! I really feel for you though. This is why I have perimeter motion detector lights around my garage and I have papered up all the windows except for the one that you can only see through by standing in my kitchen. I have also installed motion detector lights INSIDE my garage so that way if someone is breaking in at 3 in the morning I can see the lights go on INSIDE my garage thgough that window that I left uncovered. Am I a bit paranoid? No, not really considering that my neighbourhood has 30 break ins a month and a bottle depot is a block away so my alley is hobo central [IMG]

I'm sorry about the loss of your parts, but I would advise y'all to take something constructive from this. When the last post about someone losing their tools was posted, I put locks on my backyard gates and a security light on the shop. I sleep much better now. A lot of us live in neighborhoods with problems, so take a weekend and put up a few simple defenses. The peace of mind is worth it.
