Finally after 6 years, two moves, three jobs and dealing with the DMV on an 8 year old ***le I have my '51 on the road as a daily driver. Set it up with a '56 235 with a clifford/holley and fenton headers. Stuck an '80's buick 10 bolt under the back with 2.56 gears and the old granny 4-speed. Loves to run down the highway at 70-75 mph and still have 1st gear if I ever need to get out of the hole. Blast to drive and appreciate the trials and tribulations everyone else has gone through to get there.

I did - still do. H'ville is about 20 miles south - commute into KC daily. That's the reason for the highway gears - looking forward more now to the daily drive.

There was one just like that behind NKC hospital... Any chance it could've been you?

Not me. Mine's been either on the driveway, in the garage or in "long-term" yard storage for 6+ years. I was driving it home from work (bone stock 216, closed drivetrain, 3 spd) when the spiders in the differential shelled. Dumped the differential oil on the driveway but at least it did not strand me. I actually picked the truck up in Lawrence back in '96. Drove is a couple of years in the lenexa area.
