well, I know a 350 manual flywheel will fit a 194 cu. in. six. (same series six as 250). bolt pattern, diameter, tooth number were all the same when I used a 3 speed and flywheel from a early 70's smallblock.

The 250 will likely be the small 153 tooth flywheel. It will fit on any 2 piece rear main seal V8.

I used the flexplate, converter and starter from a 250 on a 305. Just make sure that the block is tapped for the starter's bolt pattern. Some are and some are not.

  5. It will fit but it will shake badly. The 250 is externally balanced like a 400 small block or a 454 big block. If you look at the flywheel there will be a large cut out on the back side. If you look at the end of the 250 crank it will have a locating dowl so the flywheel can only go on with the weight to the appropriate side.

No, the only externally balanced Chevies are the 400 sbc and the 454 and 502 BBC, but It would be correct not to use the 250 flywheel on one of those engines.
If you want a small flywheel for a 350, it will work fine. Make sure you have the right bellhousing and starter, as the larger 168 tooth flywheel uses a different bell and starter.

It will work, I've run a flywheel off a V8 on my 250 for 19 years.

As David Chandler said you have to use the correct starter to match the flywheel.

The 250 is internally Balanced rigth along with the 194,230 & 292 And those flywheels with Fit and Work on any Small and Big Block. BUT NOT a 400,454 & 502s as they are externally balanced.
And some 292s had 1/2 bolts OR the 7/16 So that is one thing you need to watch out for with the 292s.
