Sounds like a good cause. I have a sister with a handicap she loves going for rides in my cars and the old mans,Just cant wipe the smile off her face.
Thay take the kids for horse rides with a special saddle, you should see the kids smiles. I posted this early so you could mark your calendar.
Here's another post, so quite your whining!! haha I'll be there as usual...it's always a great day and a good cause! Any one in the area should try to make it, the South Shore Street Rod guys throw a hell of a time! See you there.
i have an Autistic son thats 22 and non verbal and as he was growing up and even today loves to ride in my hot rods. he is the best riding buddy anyone could have. i think that its awesome that you guys are doing this for the kids. the one thing that i can say about most of the kids with handicaps they are a happy bunch of kids to be around. i have always wished that everyone in the world could have their at***ude about things, it would be a better place to live in.
I wish I lived there, I would go and drag all my car buddies. I work in a school so I see kids and the **** they have to go through. Helping a special needs kid is priceless and in this case it has to do with cruizin, just taking a buddy, we can do that!
i'll try to be there although thats the same day as the rumblers show in CT, if i dont end up going to the rumblers, i'll go to this show!
My little sister Jenny is a handicapper...they are some of the sweetest kids you'll ever meet. You guys get out there and support this...you'll be glad you did.
wow, i gotta start reading months correctly haha definately will be at the handi-kids camp show then!! keith are you going to terryville?
I went many many years ago when i was younger. Pretty good show, many different cars there, healthy dose of restored muscle cars as well, hotrods, street rods..what have ya. Good show, im gonna try and make it..its my brothers birthday that weekend, so its iffy.
so we have what, another month to hear all about his louvers and pinstriping...ooooh I'm getting all tingly! haha
For those that have never been to a camp for kids let me tell you a story.I'm involved with a MC rights organization (ABATE) in Indiana that has gone To the MDA Camp for years.I had never went because quite frankly I thought the sight of the kids in wheelchairs would be too much for me.I mean how sad that this has happened to them.In 07 I went.My experience was something that I would never forget and I wouldn't miss it again. It was great to see how the kids hang out with other kids that were just like them.I did have one little guy call me over to him and while I'm talking 2 other kids in wheelchairs come up and soaked me with squirtguns.I was about this time that pity turned into understanding and it was great to see them have a good time. You have to understand that the time away from their parents is good for them and also gives Mom and Dad a break.I went again mid June 08 to MDA Camp and really enjoyed seeing some of the campers that I met last year.I hope that if you are like me and afraid to go that you'd give it a chance and help put a smile on the kids faces.I think you will enjoy it.
The weekend we have the run thear are no kids thear. But you can walk around and see all the things thay have for the kids. thay have a drive in movie set up for the wheel chair kids. boats, a horse riding stable. just lots of things and the money from this run helps with every thing.
