I'm once again walking in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life this weekend. I really dislike doing it as it makes me cry just thinking about the friends and family I've lost thru the years but I really do feel it's important to particicpate, raise money and bring awareness in finding a cure.

As some might know we lost one of our this past year, Bill AKA: BDrake

and currently our good pal Dallas AKA: Hellraiser is battle this dreadful disease.

I am walking to help raise money in their names.

Last year my company raised over $12,000 and were beat only by AAA in the amount of money raised. The whole Livonia Relay for Life event raised over $110,000!!

I will be walking late tomorrow night. Please see the link below and donate in our friends memory/honor.

    Thank you

For those that aren't fimiliar with the Relay for Life set up, the track is lined with luminary bags decorated by folks in memory and honor of their friends and family. The bags have sand and candles in them.

I usually help out with one of the Leukemia events locally. Lost my sister to Leukemia when I was young and my mom has had cancer twice. It's a really good thing to do...

We did the one here in Brighton on May 16th. I lost my daughter-in-law to cancer at the age of 23 a few years back in 2000. It is a great cause to give to.

I'll say "THANK YOU" for those who have been helped by your act of kindness. Because of what you & others are doing many have been helped. When I was healthier I'd go every 2weeks to give Platelets because I knew there was a need. I knew someone had to do it so I figured "Why Not Me."
    Good Luck Denise.....joe

My heart goes out to each of you that have lost someone. Please include your loved ones name and I'll make sure they get included in the program.

For those that have battled and won, congrats! I can also include your names as well if you'd like.

    Thank you Denise.

As many of you know reading and watching the news of late, of how prolific this cancer stuff is. It has been with us through out history. But the awareness of cancer, all types of cancer, have come into the fore front recently

I am aware of all of the new treatments that have been developed to preventing and combating this disease. But it does cost money for research and testing of these new methods. Some of the research is government funded research, but some of it comes from private donations gathered from these Relays for Life.

Even if you do not join in the walk, consider contributing.

I suppose this might be the place and time to mention it, but even my Lil' HellRaiser has got to have a biopsy done on some spots that have shown up in her.

Again as a reminder for everyone, men and ladies, do get screened. Think of it like checking the air in your tires, changing the oil or checking the nuts and bolts for tightness, it's good preventive maintence.

    Thank you everyone,

    HellRaiser

HellRaiser good to see your alive and still kickin. Hope Lil's biopsies come out negative and all is clear.

Denise I know oh so much how you feel, walking the path at a Relay for Life is one tough thing to do. Lost my mom and a sister to cancer and walking past their representative bags just brings those feelings all back like a ton of bricks.

    Your doing a good thing!

WOW! I am sitting here with goosebumps.

Thank you for posting the picture of you with Bill. I am guessing that is from Goodguys in Chicago Summer 2007.

I have a great picture of he and his Mom pounding pavement during that event when they went from Chicago to Columbus. He had the best time. Below is the photo. Click on it for a nice big shot. Look at that smile!!!

PS: Looks like he bought hubcaps in Chicago!

    Donation made. Thank you.

Yes, it was taken last Sept at the Chicagoland event. I didn't realize he was as sick as he was. We had a very nice conversation and some laughs. He will be missed by many.

Tell her the HAMB is proud of her as well.

I will be thinking about them tomorrow night as I'm sure you do every night.

That was very generous of you, thanks!

I will say a prayer for a negative outcome.

Well I guess my cat is now out of the bag.
I couldn't agree with you more dad. Everyone needs to be screened and screened regularly. . You never know what will pop up when. E****ally if there is a family history of it.
My dad's family...including my self are examples of, although the cancers may be different, some genes are just prone to the destructiveness of those nasty cells....they just develope into something different.
My biopsy is next Wed. Not sure how soon to expect results.....but I know my body...Quite sure the outcome will be positive. But that's o.k....I'll get treated and keep going on.
Denise I think it's wonderful what you and others are doing. Keep it up.
