Amazon.com usually turns up some odd ones too.... I highly recomend this movie set... 4 DVD's and lots of the great hotrod movies of all time... cheap! http://www.amazon.com/Burnt-Rubber-20-Movie-Pack/dp/B000LW98UU love that old movie, "the choppers".. what hooligans!
I just bought a dvd from big lots taht has 20 cl***ic hot rood themed movies on it. This clip above is from THE CHOPPERS good old flick. Hey Retro, that is the dvd set I just got it was 6 bucks at big lots.
No problem, even the dollar tree, dollar general, family dollar stores have old flicks on dvd as well. You just have to constantly look for them. Wal mart even has some good ones every now and then. I always seem to never find them though. my buddies will say hey they had 3 left, I tell them why didn't your *** get me one too lol.. Anyhow happy video hunting
Don't forget the 1949 Hot Rod with the famous eight car race and the motorcycle cop trying to stop it.
Man, I dig that crazy "walkie-talkie" that the t-bucket kid in the Choppers uses! I just kept thinking of those huge-*** first generation cell-phones...hahaha. My favorite line is when they're getting paid for some chopped parts and one of 'em says to the guy that's layin' out the dough, "That's right daddy-o, peel off those cabbage leaves". I keep thinking I'll get to use that line one day, but probably wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.
Bikini Beach? I think that was the first Avalon/Funicello beach/surf/hot rod film...had a drag racing sub-plot...Don Rickles is the ace mechanic that builds Frankie a car to beat the "Potato Bug," also played by Frankie. For something more edgy, check out Two Lane Blacktop, 1971, Warren Oates, Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys), James Taylor, Laurie Bird.
Also need to look for "Attack of the Giant Gila Monstger" Has , obviously , a giant gila monster , totally cool hot rods (was filmed in '59 I think) and period rock and roll . My fav

Gumball Rally, "whatsa behinda me is nota importanta" (after he 'rips' the rear view mirror off and pitches it over his shoulder). Or the Jag that wouldn't start. Or the van with the giant gas tank, and hey, wasnt there a Cobra or something in there? FWIW I still have an 8mm copy of Abbot & Costello "Midget Car Maniacs" I have to get copied (or find our projector).
