Just finished wiring up my valves and thought I'd share. I fabbed a valve support/ground strap and mounted it to the bottom of the tank legs and then just zip tied everything to it. The extra wire in the center is in case I choose to switch positions of my lines I can just swap the wiring.
Nice set up- i am a big fan of clean set ups- the ones that get thrown in are the ones that fail- cool shit!
and where will you be mounting this setup? i always preferred the the front valves under the front, and the back valves under the back, with your air supply in a totally separate location. i like my components to be stealth and hidden away next to or under an existing part. but thats just my opinion. does look clean.
I know very little about air ride systems, but I do know attention to detail. You have great attention to detail and I'm sure whatever you're working on is going to kick ass. Nice work, man.
Nice set-up Shifty50. The wire routing is great but, if it were me I would cover the wires with either convoluted lume or snakeskin and a little heat shrink on your terminal ends. Again nice job. Fitysix
Thanks for all the nice comments guys! That's actually how I've run other setups. This time the tank/valves are mounted in the trunk with the valves facing forward, basically hidden. The front bags are hardlined through the mount cups and then 90 back along the frame, so when you open the hood you don't see anything air related.
Looks god man are you sure thats enough air? I have 3 tanks and I use em up pretty fast I am thinking about adding helium or co2 as a back up. I goota figure outa way to post pics man I think you would dig my set up James
I'll try and remember to snap a pic of the front setup this weekend when I'm back at the shop. -James66g, yeah it will be plenty, 12 gal. with two compressors. I'm not into bouncing it around a lot just up and down to drive/park.
i might bag my 49 for the heck of it, i like the slammed look when its parked but how is the ride quality? with the suspension i have in the 51 all new springs and lowered the traditional way it rides better than the wifes BMW.
Modem took a shit, sorry about the delay....Pics as requested. Hardline through upper cup and then installed, rear setup minus the front air lines and the guage panel under the stock speaker grill.
It rides smooth, and I don't have front shocks or a rear sway bay hooked up yet and never drove it stock so nothing to compare it to but other vehicles I have/have owned. Installing air is a pretty big job though when done right, LOTS of wiring and plumbing air lines, I changed my system three times before I finalized on what I ended up with.
Looks really nice man, top notch work. My only question is don't you want the front valves close to the bag to avoid body roll? Not being a dick, just curious because i have to plumb mine fairly soon.
volume of air in the lines is so small it will not make much of a difference, but quick deflating may be effected by the size of the line.
Looks really clean! I'm fairly new to installing bags... Just out of curiosity, is the a reason your valves are run straight from the tank and not through a manifold?
should work great doing things right the first time is the way to go its pretty bad to have to work on your ride on the side of the road with it dropped all the way down brass fittings are the way to go those plastic fittings can be really unreliable
Just like the response quote from Slag Kustom body roll doesn't seem to be an issue. Dumping/deflating was actually was too quick, like the car dropped out from under me so I put caps on the dump valves with holes drilled in them til I got the dump speed I wanted Just what I'm used to and good manifolds are pretty spendy compared. You're the second one to make a point of this, I've only found brass fittings with no angle options like my set up needs. Is there a source for them? I just got the ones I have from the local long haul truck suppliers, and they also don't seem to come in 3/8" valve 1/2" line configuration.
