Going to Reno NV, Any old junk i need to see?

Im driving from Portland Oregon to Reno NV next weekend to pick up a 26 roadster body i bought off ebay. Anything in Northern CA or around the Reno area i should check out, old wrecking yards, abandoned cars, hidden ghost towns? Also, if someone needs to get a car trailered to or from Reno to Portland i will do it for deisel cost, (its a 05 Duramax dually, so about 18mpg) . Thanks

If you are going down the "5" you have to stop at the junkyard in williams ca. simply amazing, you'll see it on the right of the freeway. as you drive threw Sacramento you have to stop at "Sacramento Vintage Ford" just killer. In Reno you have to go to the "National Auto Museum"if you have never been. If you need places to eat let me know.....have a good trip.

Not sure what town gunsmoke was filmed in, but i am framiliar with Virginia City Nevda, i go there often and it is incredibly rich with History, after traditional hotrods and custom, Old West History is second to me. strange for a 17 year old haha

i think right after Yreka the way towards Susansville, either that way or the way through Kalamath Falls

 

If you go threw "K"falls about 32 to 34 miles from there on the 139 is a killer yard near the town of "Newell"...only problem is the guy is only there between 7am and 9am yup 2 hours a day...but it's cool to see. Also if you go this way take the 139 all the way to Susanville it's a better drive than threw Alturas.

Go south of Reno to a town called Bodie. It's a great ghost town. Houses are still furnished. People left cars and everything behind. Cool sights, cool old weathered cars, plus a few restored cars. Look in the mortuary to see mint condition horse drawn he**** carriages.









Oh.. check out the Harrah's Auto Museum in downtown Reno. It's a great collection. Cars from 1890 thru the 70's. They have 5 Ed Roth cars there... Beatnik Bandit, Beatnik Bomber, Fink Mobile, The Yankee Blitz, The Conastoga Star.

Man, there is seemingly alot of cool things that i need to make time to see, i have read about Bodie and dreamed about going there since i was like 12 or 13. I need to see that

 

I will be in Reno this weekend for a wedding, hoping to hit the Harrahs auto museum Saturday evening.

That is always a stop on my list, plenty of cool **** there, I suggest putting that on your list especialy the Roth stuff they have there!
