11 minutes, not a word spoken, but this speaks volumes. Posted on FordBarn and is good enough that no American should miss it. OT.. yes it is and I dont give a rats ***. http://video.google.Com/videoplay?docid=-2487638612433437293&q=Vetera
I miss actual respect for the flag. The raising in the morning, the taking down at the end of the day. I am not down with this flying it in the rain and at night ****. I am not down with stickers of the flag left to fade on the back of a car. I miss respect being shown to our colors....
I don't have any sound on my computer but I bet $2.37 (all I have) that "I'm proud to be an American" was playing during the credits.
Everyone should see that, it was awesome. Gary I will respect your right to burn our flag if your respect my right to kick your *** while your doing it.
Its not only the US with this problem. Having been a guardian and custodian of the Australian National Flag I get VERY mad when sports stars and fans wear MY flag over there shoulders. They have NO IDEA how to respect something so important. A flag should NEVER touch the ground, A flag MUST be folded in the correct way. A flag must be stored in the correct way. A flag should NEVER be flown overnight, in fact after 5pm. When hung (ie, on a wall) there IS a protocol for how this is done. Your national flag is not a piece of bunting denoting your country it is a representation of the blood, sweat and tears shed to make our countries. Whenever you see the flag think of they who gave the supreme sacrifice in the name of it. Doc. PROUD TO HAVE SERVED MY COUNTRY UNDER OUR FLAG.
Nads you aren't the only one !I can remember my dad out for a Sunday drive with the entire family stop the car go onto someones front lawn and fixing a flag that had fallen from its holder!
I do. Lots of those younger than I do as well, that's why I see them walking around where I work with their families, sporting their Cl*** A's every Thursday and Friday. Fresh outta Basic.
Funny we were discussing this very thing at work today. Something I quiz my kids with. http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html
Ehh, you shouldn't paint with such a broad brush. Maybe fewer do, but that started with the baby boomers. Ever heard of draft card burnings? God bless out veterans!
i just pick one up off the ground in the middle of the road.it was only 6 by 12inches but none the less... all i thought about was all the drivers who drove p***ed and over it and how no one stopped before me to pick it up,but some of those same people will take 10 minutes to go to a f*&king coffee shop and stand in line for a latte but could not take 5 seconds to pick up the flag that men and women have died to protect. I am AMERICAN!
I admit I teared up. The proud old army guy really reminded me of my grandfather. He was a vet of WWII (39-45) in the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (M.G.), 1st Battalion. In the end he was nearly bedridden and had a walker like that and still had his fierce pride and determination.
You mean a weatherbeaten flag sticker haphazardly applied off center and crooked to the door of your grand marquis doesn't make you a patriot??????? Post 9/11 a couple of co-workers got on me for not being a patriot with flag stickers on my cars. (seemed a shallow, commercially contrived way to show support) Their crooked application was disrespectful enough in my eyes, but knew it would be worsened when left to fade. Sure enough.......spur of the moment patriots. For the record, I was 20-25 years younger than those coworkers. Respect for the flag has not been forgotten by all younger people
Wow. That made my heart hurt, made me tear up and made me very proud to be an american. On behalf of my late dad who was in WWII and my brother who was in vietnam i thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this. Its wonderful. G***er Girl
Excellent. Thank you for sharing. I'm enlightened to hear from our young HAMB members - it's up to you to keep our flag flying in this country, for one of the baby-boomers that started the problems noted above. God bless you young and old. Let your voices be heard, and your patriotism known.
Probably the defining moment of a shift in patriotism in America. There was no incident before that so publicly demonstrated a defiance of our government and what this country had stood for. Ever since it has become fashionable to rebel against ANYTHING that doesn't suit our selfish self centered ideas of what we think is important. Now it's all about ME not about US. The present generations will probably be able to milk the American dream until our final days but unless something happens to change our direction our grandkids stand a good chance of saluting another flag flying over Washington. "Those who do not study and learn from history are destined to repeat it". All of the great societies since the start of recorded history have fallen victim. Why should we be any different? Plenty of reasons why, but no determined common commitment to change the outcome. Frank
