Well my first question is about my fuel pump in general. I've got a '63 mercury w/ a 390. There is a gl*** filter between the pump and carb that is completely verticle. should the filter always be full of gas? Mine has been a quarter full when idling and im starting to think the pump has gone bad since after driving for a while the car will just die and the filter is empty. My second question is does it matter if i get a carb that says its for a 4bbl when mine is a 2bbl if there is a return line on it? thanks in advance. -Joe

That's normal with the gl*** filters. sometimes full, sometimes 1/2. Sometimes almost empty. Temperature has a lot to do with it. Vapor pressure and all the Chemistry stuff we didn't pay enough attention too.
