how can i get the gold coloring off of my rear carb ?
the rear carb is the one that was on the engine when i got the car.
the front carb is a rebuilt one that i picked up cheap, but it is silver colored.
the rear carb is slightly gold colored.
is there anything i can use to get that gold color off of the rear carb ?
is the metal actually gold colored, or is that from years and years of fuel staining ?
    thanks.

Probably just fuel stains and a little dirt.
If so I've used a nylon brisle brush (similar to the small metal bristle toothbrush style ones) and a little solvent.

I just replaced the single barrel Holley, on my 62 Comet, and the old one looked like your rear carb.
The rebuilt one out of the box (rebuilt in 69) looks just like your front carb.

Eastwood makes carb paint in several different shades. Silver, gold, etc.

    thanks.
i think i'll try to scrub the rear carb and see if it'll clean up.
i did try brake clean and a toothbrush and some of it came off. the brake clean evaporates too fast, and i don't think it's strong enough to get the really old stains off.

Eastwood sells a chemical that will give you the gold color.

Try Easy Off oven cleaner, use it ligthly as it will damage gaskets and rubber, spray some on a brush, paint it on, wait a few minutes, and use a tooth brush and water to take it off...

Also oven cleaner works great at taking anodizing color off of AN fittings if you want to polish them, spray it on and let it set...
