<TABLE width="90%"><TBODY><TR><TD>Tryin ta buy a car out of Austin. Owner ( or so he says) states car cannot be registered in Texas ever again. When pressed as to why, he states the vehicle is a "green tagged" junk nuicance vehicle. It can never be licensed in Texas. Is this true? What kinda story is that? Can a vehicle be a big enough nuicance to not be allowed registration? I never heard anything like it.The car is a fairly straight 65 Elkie.Has some floorboard rust and needs a carb and a tailight. I suspect the car is stolen. What do u guys think? Is there such a thing?</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Does that mean it carries a Junk or Salvage ***le? That would mean it could never regain it's clear ***le again...but sounds kind of shady to me
there might be some truth to this. There's a Jeep place called Collins Bros. in Wiley, and their website always has a few project vehicles for sale that say "cannot be licensed in Texas." It might just be some weird law.
Check out this link. http://www.txdot.gov/forms/vehicle_***les.htm If the vehicle was a nuisance vehicle, Texas DOT may of been informed that the vehicle was to be s****ped. I bought a 86 Camaro like this, was left abandoned and had the removal sticker still on it. Could not register it as TXDOT was informed that it was a nuisance vehicle and was towed to be s****ped. I bought it for parts so didn't bother me. Had a 350TPI and 700R4 in it and posi rear. Alex
well is the does the car run? you can now trade in running cars for a credit on a new car.. if he did this, I'm sure the old car was headed for the s****per and probably can't be registered. You can get a ***le in texas for a rebuilt salvage car.
In general, once a car gets "green tagged", or officially destined for the junkyard, there's no saving it. You might call Lawrence ***le, 1-800-352-2788 and ask them what you can do. They have been helpful to me.
As Rev said may have been turned in for the 3k credit. I saw a perfect Falcon at a Pick-a-part that was surendered. No way to get a ***le, there were several that tried. Not even taking it to Mexico, and back. It was sad, although it was a 4 door, it could have been buffed and driven. Had a 170/Fordo. Glad some of these cars are going to dismantlers, they will bring more money at the s****yard.
The car, being in Austin, may have caused it to come under more scrutiny than would ever happen in east Texas. Best bet would be to use the green tag story as a bargaining chip to negotiate a much better price, then get a ***le later, if you get my drift.
"green tagged" also known as a "Death Certificate" You wouldnt believe how many cars accidentally get "killed" each year by insurance people that fatfinger a digit in the VIN's. I know of a woman that had her 1 year old VW accidentally death cert'd. Apparently another VW had been totalled and the death cert was to issued for it, well the VIN got fatfingered and her cars VIN was what was the product of the fatfinger. So when she went to reup her plates, she couldnt because her car had been "green tagged" She still had a loan on it, and all! She lobbied and fought with TxDot on it and they would not reverse it. I'm sorry I dont know what she did about it though. Last I knew she was considering driving out of state and trading it in. No idea if that would work or not.
