Okay I'm looking for ideas or experience to raise money for my local high school football team here in Idaho. I'm new to Hamb but have been a motorhead most of my life. I had an idea for a one night cruise in / barbeque. I thought we'd do it under the lights on the field but I'm not sure how to make any money off it and promote it. We are a small school but located in a beautiful area that is kinda a crossroads for all the larger towns. Plenty of classic cars here and alot of open weekends without shows. Anyway our equipment definately needs an upgrade and all my boys work regular jobs so its tough to do your typical type events to raise money. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I work on one for the youth ministry in my church... along with another HAMBer... needs lots of planning and help... we were able to get enough donated door prizes that everyone walked away with something... last year was our 1st year and by the day of the show, everything was paid for and entry fees were clear money... get the help of your local community for donations and sponsors...

Good luck... PM me if you have any specific questions...

I've been a coupole of times to a local show put on by a Middle School. They have two awards, 7th grade choice and 8th grade choice. For the $10 entry fee you get two hotdogs and two drinks, all of which is donated to them. The show is only a couple of hours long, which I like. They also have lots of door prizes, all donated, which is nice for the guys who bring their cars. On the field, under the lights would be a cool idea. I'm a high school football coach, so I understand the fund raising part of the equation. Luckily, we've found a lucrative fundraiser that requires minimal effort on our part. It doesn't say what part of Idaho you're in, but you could probably get it put on the Hot Rod Cafe's calendar on their website for a little advertising.

Yea I'm sure I could get the eats and drinks donated. We could do peoples choice and team choice. I think a minimal entry fee like 10 bucks and a show on Friday night from 7 to 11 could bring out quite a few cars and we could probably sell a fair amount of food to non entrants. I'm gonna try to put something together for late July I think.
