I do not now about 49 but my 47 pontiac is exactly the same body as my 47fleetline.I could take the doors, fenders or what ever and mix and match them. The frame on my 47 fleetline has been hacked up so In can't use it for a reference.I know the pontiac has stock open drive and 5 lug pattern.

Frames are completely different. Pontiac frame is an X-Frame.

Thank you for finally helping me out and by the way nice truck I have seen you driving that since you first started building it.The truck has evolved nicely.Do you happen to know about the front suspension area of the frame, can I buy crossmembers and stuff for a 47 chevy?

Pontiac has a totally different frame and suspension , as long as its a small series body ,the chevy frame may go under it with some floor/ mount fabrication

pontiac only, 41-48. hollander shows 3 frames used in these years. difference seems to be conv, regular coupes and sedans and station wagon.cant be that hard to find a correct frame in ca.lots less work than trying to adapt something.

What are you wanting to do with the frame? California Pontiac Restoration should have any of the front end rebuild kits and scarebird has a disc brake kit. Any engine mounts would have to be made.

Thank you 55 chieftain for the info I am looking for a disc brake conversion and general other stuff like motormounts.I have seen mounts for chevy frames that you use the stock rivet holes to bolt them up and then weld them in place also stuff like that would be good for my application.I will deffinately check out the sites you mentioned. To everyone that has replied I am sorry for subjecting you to the non related posts from myself and Tomslk.I am new and so far the experience has been great, I by far do not know everything nor will I ever act like I do so please accept my apology. I am now going to the garage and then the kegerator for motivation.

Back to your original question kinda, 37-48 Chevy are A body, the A body Pontiac would be 46-48 25 & 27 series. B Body Pontiac 41-48 which is a bigger car is 26 & 28 series. Thats only for the bodies, like already mentioned-frames totally differant.
