July 4th, 5th, & 6th - Des Moines - Iowa State Fairgrounds. http://www.good-guys.com/events/eventDetails.aspx?eventid=08-602 I know it's a bit early, but I figure just short of a month is safe grounds for starting a "Who's Comin', Whatcha' Bringin'?" Thread. I'm normally not a huge fan of Goodguys, mainly due to the registration and admission prices, but I'm not able to attend any of my favorite out of state shows this year before September, so I'm really looking forward to getting out to this one. Anyone planning a HAMB Meet & Greet? My fiance is taking work off for this show, so we're looking forward to a full weekend of fun Hopefully the '53 will be ready to rock too!
It would be cool to meet you! Johnny (Ruiner) told me that the R.R. was a blast! If the chevy fairy shows up, send it my way!
I'll be there in my 57 Chevy P U. Looking forward to being there. I've only missed 1 at Des Moines since it started. Hope to see a bunch of you there.
ohh my.....i get to **** hug you both that soon after the RR???? gonna be a great summer!!! babydoll, it would be great to meet you as well!!!! whats the deal with sept??? your okay i hope!!!
Denise, look forward to meeting you! And same to Road Kill.. sounds like we'll have to figure something out for a HAMB meet & greet for sure.. maybe when it gets a little closer to the date. Breeder, thanks, I'm doing fine! I've got a little 'grease-ette' on the way in August.. so we've been spending our traveling money on stuff for the baby... (And a bunch of car stuff too, but don't tell anybody )
We'll definantly set up a Meet & Greet as the time gets closer....something with shade maybe. Malcolm and I are trying to "talk" CornFed into have a gig at his place on that Saturday night.....I don't remember if he remembers talking about it last weekend. I can't imagine him remembering much of anything.
See you guys there.... Looking forward to it! How about a 1:00 pm Meet & Greet on Saturday? Last year we met in front (North side) of the nice brick building on the main drag. It has an awning across the front of it, so it's nice and shaded. I'll put up a sign, so it will be easy to find. It is the large building in the center of this photo: http://maps.google.com/maps/mm?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=41.595218,-93.554796&spn=0.005215,0.009356&t=h&z=17 Malcolm
If I'm looking at the map correctly, isn't that the Varied Industries Building? Sounds good to me - plus if it's too hot that building is air conditioned!
Planning on making the event...got to finish the timing gear replacement on the B motor in my coupe...kept me from the Rust Revival!
I'm kinda plannin on being there. Maybe just Saturday, not sure yet. I'll be driving my wagon ( wanna make sure my friends have a comfy place to sleep ) Look foward to meeting you. Gary
btt for u. want to go to as many of the goodguys shows around the midwest as possible as im visiting family over the summer but dont know how many of them i can swing to. will try to head to iowa.
Breeder, thanks, I'm doing fine! I've got a little 'grease-ette' on the way in August.. so we've been spending our traveling money on stuff for the baby... Kids, the gift that keep taking! I am one down and one to go!
haha......you had me lost for a spell! i meant my other baby doll!!!! still plannin on a trip to your house with fam this summer,,,so start thinkin of fun stuff to do for the wife and kids....while were off gettin drunk!!
Come down and stay over the 4th. There is all kinds of stuff to do at the Capital, beer stands, car shows, beer gardens, craft stuff, bars and stuff. Did mention that there are beer stands? Then we could head back over to our house and watch the fireworks from the bluff overlooking the Capital. We could also have a Kropdusters BBQ. Keith
i was just watchin the cbs national news and saw that des moines was under water.. keep us posted. hopefully the fairgrounds wont be under water for the show!
Yes, there is some flooding in DM, but it's "Controlled". They had to let water out of the lake North of the city. There was 3 or more days notice so there was quite a bit of prep work done. The fairgrounds is dry and will be OK.
Nah, the kiddie pool is what's *****in' at the Palace de Corn Fed. Particularly after one's lost 15 gallons of sweat at the fairgrounds.
Yeah, I don't think the fairgrounds ever really has a flooding problem. There's been some controlled and uncontrolled damage around different areas of Des Moines, and threat of more damage due to the continuing storms, but shouldn't be a problem at the fairgrounds for the show. It's getting closer! I'm excited!!
We'll be there with these 3 cars (64 Rambler Wagon - Motoboy, 50 Ford Business Coupe - My dad, 31 Ford Model A - Me):
I'm gonna try to sneak over if I'm not buried in home projects. The 34 coupe won't be ready so I'll prolly cruise over in this;
Omahaaaa to DesMoines and back in that ....... HMMMMMMM I'd say thadda be abouta $ 600.00 in gas Yaaaaa ! BWHAAAAA Cob
