I wanted to see how my roadster would look with regular size headlights. So I borrow a brand new set of Vintiques headlights to try out. Piece of cake right? Well it isn't and I don't know why. Maybe you guys will have an answer.
As you can see from the attached pictures the adjustment slot on the new headlights does not allow the mounting bolt to move far enough forward to mount the headlight properly. The adjustments slots on the small headlights are just fine. I can't believe the Vintiques lights are not made right but they sure as hell don't fit right ...... unless I want to go **** hunting:D:confused:
What do you guys think the problem is.

Look as though the headlite bar sockets would need to be canted forward, to be able to aim the new lights. Or modify the headlamp slot? Weird that they could not be pointed in the right direction...horizontal!

Make sure your headlight bar in not on backwards, If it is the sockets for the headlights will be tipped back too far, been there. done that.

I've found that aftermarket style lights will fit okay on a backwards headlight bar. Turn the bar around and try the stock headlights again.

Turn the headlight bar and the lights will be fine.

  8. Pretty sure the guys are on the right track with the backwards install bit.

I have a home-made headlight bar on my 32 highboy roadster.
No probs with Dietz or King Bee, but when I tried a set of stock size (new) 32 headlights the flat part of the home-made bar would not allow enough downward adjustment for proper headlight aiming.

The stock Deuce headlight bar - as someone mentioned - has the cups tipped forward . . . in other words the front part of the cup is lower than the back part.

Some strange things happen when you build a street rod. some of them can be explained by people who are closer than California:eek: Should have called me, your the second '32 owner this year that has the headlight bar on backwards. I could have claimed 2 solved problems instead of 1. Oh well, if your not consulted you can't help.:D:D:D

Well you guys are right. I turned the headlight bar around and the big lights fit like a glove. They look nice too:) Thanks for the comments. So next time I have a question that even the Guru can't answer :D I'll know were to come.
