Picked up a vintage Eelco hand pump fuel pressure pump. It has the mounting brackets. The front bracket has the Eelco name block letter cast into the bracket. It also has an 1 5/8" hole with the words on at 9 o'clock and off at 6 o'clock. Is this for a fuel shut off or a switch to kill the power?? Would like to see some pics of the switch and how the pump mounts. Thanks

Good luck finding the correct valve, it took me six months of solid searching to find mine. I cant remember what the makers name of the valve is. Heres some pics of what you need:

Moon (thats what I have) used the same valve on their pumps.

It's called a Parker aircraft fuel shutoff valve...I got one or two somewhere. They are around on ebay.

    Yep, thats it.

Just make sure before you buy one you ask for a measurement, Parker made a bunch of different sizes. Last summer I stopped at Moon and talked to the old guy thats been there for 50+ years. I thought they might have a couple laying around in one of the far corners of the shop. He said that years ago there was a surplus store down the road that had them in 55 gallon drums. I was told they are WWII surplus. I have a Moon catalog from '55 that lists them for $6 so they were fairly expensive even then.

Thanks Guys This is the info I needed. Are the brackets designed to mount the pump on the tank mount brackets?? In one of Muttley's pics there is a L shaped bracket attached to the factory bracket. Thanks again.

actually, and correct me if i'm wrong but, the cowl is the preferred mounting spot for a fuel pump and not actually ON the tank. thus the term "cowl mount fuel pump"

Larry, buddy... got any layin around that needs a good home? pal? friend o' mine?

Some of the tanks had a bracket welded to the top for the cast pump bracket to bolt to. The pic I posted with the L bracket is probably home made. There was also a Moon pump that mounted through the cap. The Moon tanks with the pumps/switches were called "Weekend Warriors" I'll post a scan of an old Moon catalog tomorrow. These pics are of a very early Moon tank, before they started using cast foot brackets. The earliest Moon tanks were surplus Army-Air Force hydraulic tanks.

What did the valve do? Did it release the air pressure from the tank or did it shut off the special racing fuel from the auxillary tank?

No problem, let me know if you need any other info or scans. I have no idea how to increase the image size/quality on those scans. If you need them, I can type the descriptions out, I know they are pretty hard to read.

Anyone have an ad or example of an Eelco tank larger than five gallons?
