    Ok,

We have heard all the bitching about the 10 buck beers, seen tons of great pics and weighed in on whether or not the swap meet attendance was down & high asking prices.
Now to the bottom line what did you buy.....other than an overpriced beer. I'll start

    A couple of T-shirts
    A couple of old magazines
And my find of the day the 2 gennie Schwinn Phantom headlights for $25
    A burrito from El Menendero
    How about you???

Really rare pair of elliptical headlamp bezels in near perfect condition for my 1936 Hupp - $10!! Old 'Have A Nice Day' license plate frame $2. Took my own food and drink.

  3. I bought some "full" Oxy/acelylene tanks with the huge O2 tank for $90, some window seals for my Ford truck from Bob Drake, an 18 inch electric fan and controller for $40, SB Ford Erson aluminum roller rockers for $20, a cool old gas can for $5, 69 Torino hood scoop for $70, Ford sport mirrors for $20, some aluminum rims for $30 to send to the recycle place.

I saw lots of shit I wanted, but did not have to buy today.

I had fun hanging with my friends and talking to all the people I met there.

And I had PLENTY of beer and food.

  4. I snagged a 32 grill insert in very good shape.

I found a few good deals.

    - Windshield frame for my 31' Model A in good condition, $5.00

    - Decklid hinges for the Model A (not quite sure what they are from yet) in great condition, $20.00

    - Dash cluster for my 49' Cadillac Sedanette in great condition, $50.00

    - 3-way Air manifold for the pnuematic tools in our shop, $20.00

    - A Rodders Journal shirt for my 5 month old son

I also saw a set of Appleton 552's in great shape for $1,600 and a Merc accessory steering wheel for $2,500 which was also in great shape, but was missing the horn spring. I was really tempted, but the price was too rich for my blood...

33-4 decklid, 33 hood, chrome 40 brakes, and some cowl and firewall pieces to fix my 34 3 window. oh yeah i dropped an axle off with 296 up there to get dropped.
i also brought my own food, the pb&j sandwiches kinda sucked since the water from the cooler leaked into the bag but it was still better than $20 for a burger and fries.

  10. A pair of Dietz headlights. Old M/T vavle covers for the gasser. Coupe of old stickers, and broke down and took out a loan for a beer. Actually I was kind of glad the beer prices were high - it kept me from spending valuable parts money and I didn't get all f'd up like the old dude that was parked next to my RPU and was so drunk he fell off the rear tire of his roadster. TWICE!

We found a lot of wery reasonable prices...just have to hunt and ask!

Parts for my projects...dropped 32 H/L bar, 32 gas tank, commercial Ford taillights, chrome 42-48 coil bracket, and more 36-37 Lincoln Zephyr hubcaps.

Parts for my dad's 40 sedan...floor pan, trunk handle, r/v mirror, radio delete plate, trim rings, hub caps, NOS front fender braces/mud guards, hood latch, park light lenses.

And a bunch of misc $1 items.

My brothers made some scores as well...like a really nice pair of Guide 682's for $40.

As usual, we had a great time...and we took our own food and drink. If I had to narrow it down to one car event per year...this would be it.

Oh, and the only good thing about I-5 being closed on the way down Friday and having to detour 58 to 395 was the fuel stop at Doc Frankenstien's in Boron...

  15. The LARS swap has a rep for very high prices, I guess that's if you are looking for the rare desirable stuff that always turns up. I always find bargains that fit my tastes. A few of my good buys were fiberglass 41 Willys parts, how about 2 rh front fenders, 1 hood and a coupe trunklid all for $100. That trunklid will save me alot of work. I got a Vertex Chevy magneto for $200. A pair of 15x 4 slot US Indy slots with good tires for $175. A pair of 15x10 Ansen 5 spokes for $200. An old Butterfly steering wheel for $7, 3 cheapo 15x6 5 spokes $20 for all. Lucky I sold some junk before I left so I had some spending money. Some of my other goodies were..... Finned GT breather to match the single I already had, Stellings breather to match the single I already had, Awesome 5x9 Vacaville Drag stip jacket patch, 4 hole Moon aluminum guage panel with the old Moon sticker on it, A better Willys 'glass hood than the one mentioned earlier, gas pedal, Nice pair of Dragfast header caps from Curbspeed, A few lic' plates, magazines and decals. and other misc little crap I don't need. My once a year swap meet fix. Can't wait 'til next year!

A few small parts nothing too big, as I flying back to Houston. Only problem was the TSA didn't like the body hammer that was in my carry on bag. They made me check it at the counter. Makes me wish I had driven out. There's always next year.

  17. picked up my new trunk lid and floor section for the coupe at brookville and sold alot of stuff like a left fender to Don Dillard for his roadster, running boards to Bass for the new secret project. Like everyone else said lot of cool stuff you never get too see much and alot of new cars that I have not seen before.

You just scared the shit outta me. I had to run out to the shop to make sure I bought a RIGHT front fender to replace the one that was smashed.

I actually didn't buy anything to unload on ebay for a change. Might have something to do with the already inflated prices there.

If I remember correctly , they sold for $75.00 , so I am willing to give you $100.00 for yours..........Actually , if you are talking about the 4 backing plates and one drum , I heard the guy was asking somewhere around $7500.00 for what he had. I don't know if they sold or not. Absolutely ridiculous.

That was a great buy - I nearly gave him asking price Friday morning when we were lined up to get in the swap meet - great self control is only reason that thing isn't heading to FL right now.

I bought 4 A axles, an old(really) dropped '33-36 with spindles & tierod, a '40 box with 2 mast jackets, a pair of '32 perches, a '40 pedal, some misc tierods, a pair of chrome hairpins with batwings, a plastic flathead block, a a '32 rear crossmember & spring, a '33 rear crossmember, a pair of '32 tail lamps with stands and tag bracket that look like were chromed about 50 years ago....and a surfboard....
