Can someone help with a wiring question. I want to put a chevy 3 wire int reg alternator on my Y block. I need to know how to byp*** the voltage regulator and still use the Idiot light on the dash. This is in a 1956 ford S/W.

on an early (10-12si unit) take an ignition switched wire to one side of your charge light. Out the other side of said light and out to the #1 pin on the regulator connection. You will need a diode on the exciter wire to prevent feedback to the ignition switch.
