Hey folks, I have been on this site for a while and honor all of your opinions. Now, this is my latest ride, all stock and trying to figure out the most affordable way to build it. I was leaning towards a g***er but not sure if I have the means to do it. I am on a strict budget, 5 children and I live in USA, supposedly the richest nation in the world, funny, it's still dippin' in my pockets. Anyway, let me know how I should do it money wise. Heres some pics. Also, have lots off of this car I am getting rid of, let me know what you are looking for and we will discuss trades. Thanks again guys and gals!!

first off......get it running and start enjoying driving it. if a budget is there, go easy on the $ part there are tons of easy and cheap stuff to make a custom outta, plus it will be more family friendly than a g***er...

I agree. Get it running and driving, then maybe lower it for coolness.

Remember the KISS rule, especially when $$$ is a factor.

That would make a cool G***er....but it's gonna cost more...
    straight axle, bad*** motor, etc.

Just clean 'er up a bit & get it runnin' & enjoy it.
    Then go from there.

I started a post just like this about my 53 and I we really torn with what to do. I decided to build a custom it just seems more family friendly(g***er=cage and cages and kids do not mix if you ask me) I was really undecided until I chopped the top and then there was no going back and personally I think 53-54 chevys make some of the coolest customs.

  10. as mentioned above man , clean the car up , get it running and stopping and progress on the car as your wallet allows.. eventually you will have a better idea of what you want , but i would go custom myself as 53's make killer rides..
best of luck man , keep us posted on your progress..

I think it look's funny because it appears like the B pillar area is higher than the front and rear of the roof. May just be the picture doing that.
    As for the question........
53-54's make KILLER custom's, but it's also real nice to see something different done with them as well.
Someone mentioned a straight six g***er..that would sure be different..Or even a sleeper would be cool with a HOT six under the hood..
Just thinking out loud....or in type :D

    Don't go overboard.
First, get it running. Upgrade to a later six if necessary. ('54 and later had better oiling systems.)
I'm sure the exhaust is rusted out, so run split pipes and duals when the time comes.
While you're going through the ch***is, cut a coil and a half from the front springs, and add some 3" blocks in the rear.
Restore the sheet metal; new rockers, solid floors, etc. Don't play cover up. Nose and deck it while you're at it, and French either the stock lights, or repopped '53 Ford type rings (check Night Prowlers).
Drive and enjoy while you save up for paint, interior, WW tires, etc. Repro grille teeth are available, and
look good on a painted stock bar. The "Moonglow" had the rear bumper lowered about 3". A 1949 Chevy license frame would be a nice touch.
You can ditch the bumper guards right away.

Yup. Another vote against some lame slow *** "g***er". How friggin gay. I hope that 6 cyl g***er idea was a joke. :D

Having a g***er that cant get out of its own way is like stuffing your undies with a sock.

well,,see,,that changes everything,,,a chopped coupe will look way different than a chopped 2dr sedan,,,thats why some thought it looked weird,,,chopped coupes have their own look....
