The engine in my 51 is built to look circa 1955....but with chromed valve covers you can look at it when we go to Stan Betz place...it has no FOOFOO **** on it!

Stolen off the HAMB. One looks like a mostly stock 57 283. It could be anything. I am planning to build a 55 265. No mistake with them! That is the engine facing left. Also stolen from the HAMB.

(stencil valve covers,,,oil fill tube,,,old aircleaner)

...but i have to give a public SHOUT OUT to the owner of the roach for hooking me up with the nailhead aircleaner this past wekend he removed after installing his 3 duece intake:D

Here's the 327 i built for my old 63 Impala..
    Look's nice and original....except it wasn't..
The header's are the only clue to the eye..
Painted aluminum intake, Holley 650 mechanical carb hidden under the stock air cleaner top ( custom bottom pulled lot's of air), converted dizzy, solid cam, roller rockers, 461 heads with stainless valves, screw in studs etc, forged slugs blah blah blah...
It was a sleeper in every sense..I loved the fact it looked to untouched, yet ran pretty damn strong.
This is probably too stock looking for what your after, but just thought i'd post it up in case it wasn't..
Pluck it out of the big body car, swap the air cleaner for something with a little more flash and it would be a very 'sano' mill in a rod..

It's actually got stock steel 327 valve covers on it now. Gotta figure out what to do with the air cleaner though...

  27. May not be a SBC, but this one gets my vote :) . Could be GM part #3965774 outa' the crate. Back in the 70's I'd buy'em in the crate for $900 and then I took'em apart, checked clearances, change a few bearings and restricted the oil p***ages to the top. Then add my trick 7 trap door oil pan, intake/carb, Harland Sharp roller rockers and Vertex mag.

Neat looking stock valve covers with stack breather tubes  .
