I just picked up a drop tank from a guy today. He said it was from a WW2 plane but he didn't Know what type. It's about 8 feet long and over 2.5 feet high. I will take some pictures on Monday and post them. I would like to try to figure out what it's off of. It's made out of steel . Thanks Scott

Post some pictures. Maybe someone here can help you identify it. There are a couple of HAMBrs building tank cars. Interesting about it being steel, all I ever heard of were aluminum

I will post some pictures tonight. It's funny right after I did my post I did a search on belly tanks and like 90 people have all ready asked about them. So I found out alot but I have to got to go to my shop today and measure my tank. This place amazes me some time. Thanks Scott

could be from a couple of em... i think the p-51 drop tanks were longer, like 12' or so?

interesting to see what info you get, learn more here by mistake than anyplace else by design...cant wait to see pics... visuals are nice :p

Here are the picture of the belly tank. It is a little to small for me and a engine. I might mock it up and put it in the rafters in the shop. I guess I'm going to stick to my plains to build a rear engine modified roadster. I still would like to know what it's off though. Thanks Scott

Thats not too small, think small engine, a banger, coupled straight to the rear.

Just do it, like Bo, he knows.

Lookin' good there, Scott. My P-38 is 13 feet long and 3 feet in diameter and aluminum. I also have a Tank that is 10 feet long that was a ride at the LA County Fair in the 50s. It is steel. Wayno
