Thanks for the advice guys, now, I can't find the numbers on the block to tell what motor it is, if it's the stock one, which I think it is, what is it? Should I go with a later model 235 or what? I always thought it would be cool to stuff a turbo charged six out of a GN!!. Here's my biggest dillema, as I said before, I am used to the sound and power from a v8, will I get past that or should I just build one anyway?

everyone is right, '53/'54s do make sweet *** customs. BUT, they're also EVERYWHERE! (customs i mean), i enjoy seeing something a bit different from time to time. granted you can't beat a good chopped and lowered '53/'54, but they all just about look the same. g***ers are great too, theres a guy rolling around my end of town with a baby blue '53 more door g***er and i LOVE IT! everytime i see it i reconsider my ride. hehe. go do a search in youtube for '53 chevy or '53 g***er and you'll find his ride, difinatley a sick car!
but, as many have said, a g***er may not be the most family friendly car and definatley not cheap to build.
i say get it running and enjoy driving it,....you're "build plan" will change about 1,000,000 times before you figure it out and then it will STILL change. enjoy it before you tear into it toooo much to enjoy it. i know my "plans" are constantly changing and i'm almost roadworthy....go for a driver, plain and simple and then have "weekend" projects that won't put it off the road for long. i've got the family thing going on too, 3 and 7 years old boys and one on the way. right now my build is about fun/cruising and safety cause i want to take family trips in it.

    just drive it. :D

My '53 used to be a g***er. It is pretty easy to do if you decide to go that way. Read this post to see how it was set up:

    How low is too low?

Am I a rockstar yet? My Chevy is back on the road again!

On a budget? Spend all your money refreshing the brakes and suspension and drive it as-is! Focus on making it safe and make that the #1 priority, then spring for some cool wheels and tires.

JMO. If you get too far into a project and have limited funds, you may find that you have it apart for a looonnng time, as these things always cost 3x as much as you think they will cost, and take 4x as long. :D Keep it running and update as funds allow.

So what Wyotech Campus is this picture taken at?

As for the guy with this thread. You should just get the car running and enjoy it. Trade your rims for steelies. heat your springs until you have the oney to drop the suspension the right way. Throw on some rustoleum and then just cruise with the fam until our country picks it self up off its *** and we can all afford to have fun. Then go all out. Happy rodding
