Sorry man, I'm a slacker. Every time I started a post I got busy at work which is unusual, but good. I will not be able to make it tomorrow. Have some steak-o-lean for me.
Sorry, 'bout used up my "optional driving" for the weekend when I drove down to Silver Dollar Raceway @ Reynolds, GA to the drags last night. Went down partly to see some of my friends who build and drive some bad ass door slammers run after making some changes, and partly to settle a month long rivalry and trash talking, friendly boasts and threats, etc. This was between myself and a friend who also "hangs out" at the shop where the work is done on the cars mentioned above. His '84 Vette, 350 cid, crossfire injection 159K vs my daily driver '94 Lincoln MKVIII 4.6 L DOHC 32V, 222K, best 2 out of 3. I made 8 back to back runs, trying to get a feel for "Hot Rod Lincoln"s starting line reaction to their lights and when to launch. He also made several runs sort of staggered to mine. We cooled down and had a bite to eat, then went for the shootout! Well, 4000# and 281 cid put down 3200# and 350cid! First 2 runs straight! Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but HiH else could I get in a brag about a '94 vs a '84 on HAMB? And what the hell. bragging rights with the guys you hang out with are priceless! Dave
Congrads on the victory over the smog vette! Tell your buddy i have a crossfire intake set up thats been hot coated that ill practicall give away if he is interested. Been sitting on a shelf for years since coated. Would be easy to port out and install, you know about of a third of the ports are blocked, cast up on those right. A good port job really wakes them up.
Laydrags, Bear in mind these are pretty much stock daily drivers. I was turning low 15s @ 93-94 mph and the Vette was mid to upper 15s @ 88-89 mph. With 700-750# less weight and 69 more cubic inches, plus 3"-4" more tire width the Vette had me "inna sack" for the first 1/8, but the top end on those dohc 32 valve engines is bad ass, and I passed him in the 2nd 1/8 both times. The trans is factory electronically set up to shift @6000 rpm and full throttle. Now he's hollering he wants to run me in the 1/8! But I told him no way! Always quit while you're ahead! Dave
Today's rain down here really screwed me up - putting off jobs that I need to get done this weekend until tomorrow. If it wasn't such a long drive - and if my car hadn't just eaten it's transmission (anyone know someone who can rebuild a slimjim?)... next time.
