May our "Heavenly Father" be with the Kalitta family at at time like this.... Give them the strength to carry on in a sport they all love..Scott will be missed by us all.. Prayers to the remaining field of competition in todays event. May the all be safe in what they must do to complete this weekend.
On ESPN they had Scelzi, Ron Capps and Jerry Toliver talking about Scott. Toliver talked about being in the staging lanes and over hearing Connie telling Scott's wife on the phone; "He's gone." That has got to be the hardest thing anyone would ever have to do in life. This is so sad. what a tragedy. My condolences to all in Scott's orbit. The loss is too much. Jim
I've known the Connie and the family for around 40 years. A sad day for sure Don't know what else to say. I'm just sick about it. GOD SPEED SCOTTY

He was one of a handful of people on earth that know what it's like to go that fast. Now, he knows what lies beyond it.
Jesse, sorry for the loss of your friend. My heart goes out to the Kalitta family and to all who knew Scott Kalitta. We can only hope that Scott did not see the end coming. He will be missed......
Sorry you lost a friend Departing happy and old in our sleep or doing something we dig I guess is the best we can hope for. Yes "Thanks Scott"
R.I.P Scott. Cars are going faster, shut down area's not getting longer, that needs to be looked into, not sure this accident would have had a different outcome but it needs to be looked into for runaway type incidents like this one. My condolences to the Kalitta family, friends & crew.
Nothing but good thoughts being past-up here, Jesse, family, crew and friends the Kallitta name brings back many a memory
I am the president of the Michigan Cruisers Car Club,of Flushing Michigan, we have been doing monthly cruises for 23 yrs now. Dick LaHaie usually tries to make at least one every year. He and his wife have become close friends. As you know he is part of the Kalitta family and this was the weekend he decided to take off, He was with us when the call came in that Scott had crashed and immediately told that he was gone. The pain on his face was total. Please remember him when you think of the Kalitta Family. Dick was Scotts crewchief when he won both championships, and has been there since. Thoughts and prayers to the Kalitta family and to the LaHaies.
My heart goes out to everyone involved. So tragic..truly one of the most famous families in drag racing.
Condolences to the entire Kalitta family. What a terrible tragedy. Regardless if he knew the risks and that he loved his profession, he was taken way to early in life. Prayers for all of his immediate and extended family. And thanks Jesse for sharing the pictures.
We are all too young to lose pals who are so young. My heart goes out to all who knew him and to those who wished they did. Shit .
Just got back from the RRR, and heard the tragic news here....All of our prayers are with Scott's family tonight.
Man I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I'll be thinking about the family and friends during this time. I'll also be thinking about all the times he got to mash that loud pedal. That puts a smile to my face.
I never met Scott, but he is in God's hands.I flagged Connie many times in the early days of drag racing and as a father, I can imagine the pain he must be going through. God bless the Kalitta family and may Scott rest in peace and may Connie find peace.
Just watching the race from today on the old "Tivo" and when Robert Hight was supposed to run Scott in the 1st round, they had all of Scott's team & crew on the line, Robert fired the car, did the burnout, backed up, staged & when the tree dropped, he just idled down the strip... Not a dry eye in our house I can tell you
That made my eyes sweat, too. Gives me goose bumps right now, just thinking about it.........what a tribute.
