Anyone ever try to get a color matched Rhino Liner or truck bed liner (Ziebart) sprayed on a set of running boards? My truck came with a sprayed on liner and it's tough as nails.Running boards are always a pain in the *** to keep looking good and no one makes a cover for a '40 Olds.I'm thinking about trying it but I don't want to have a color that looks like ****.
im thinking about doing this myself , i have a bro that squirts the **** for a living and in any color you want , im even considering having the bottom of my cab done as well .. the **** looks great in the back of my pickup so i dont see why it wouldnt work in this application on running boards...
Did both the running boards & bed side walls in Rhino when I painted the truck last year- Very durable & no maintenance . -41-
I sprayed rattleguard on my bed and running boards, and under the rear fenders for stone protection using a undercoating type gun that they supplied. They have various colors but I went down to my local paint store and got a nice metallic gray tint to add to the mixture and was very happy with the result. Check this out http://www.rattleguard.com/
i will check that out flat roy thanks for the link .. forty1 thats a good looking truck , i hope my 37 comes out half as nice..
Just bought a system to start spraying this stuff, different than the one mentioned above. I think it will be good sound deadener, good insulation from temperature, and even a rust proofer. I think it will be good on the inside of floor pans or even the bottom. Guess we'll find out soon!
Check out 'SpeedLiner' brand also, their system allows you to use the very same paint pigment that you use for your finish paint color.
I had my running boards done top and bottom in black as well as all the fender interiors with Rhino liner. I bought a nice grey color ribbed industrial carpet runner and glued an step-mat on each board. Helps keep the shoe-carried crud out of the interior and looks good too.
when i make new boards for my es*** im going to do them with bedliner. the mat is way too expensive and i wouldnt like it any better with the mat.
Can't be color coordinated, but certainly non-slip - wing walk paint: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/randolphwingwalk.php
that does seem a bit high , i had the bed of the old ladys silverado done for $300.00 bucks .. but then again i know the dude that done the work..

+1 on the Herculiner. I did the inside and outside of my offroad rig with it. You can roll or brush it on, no need to spary it, although it can be sprayed too. It took 3 gallons to do the inside and out of my Scout. It's $100 a gallon at my local AutoZone. It's way cheaper than having a pro spray Rhino or LineX.
I used Herculiner on my roof, it worked great but it has a rubber grit that feels very rough. I asked the company if I could strain off the rubber grit before applying it and they didn't think it would work. Hey Forty1, could you post a close-up of your running boards. The only repro matts I can get for mine are about $1000 so Rhino would be great if it doesn't look homemade. Your pickup looks great.
I used Durabak in my truck bed. Sprayed it with a shutz gun and it was really easy. Came out great and still looks great. They have it with and without the rubber grit in it. Might want to look at it for your boards.
