New at this and not sure how to post pics and I do have a lot of old and new. Have a few at:http://www.cemaclub.org/highmighty/index.php
Chop Shop, you guys have nothing to be sorry about. Just some new engine bugs and bad luck. We've all been there!!! Did you hurt the motor with the water? Can you give us some drivetrain/engine details. I saw the Diamond Piston decals on the valvecovers. Did they help with the engine? Any plans on brinding the car to the Hemi reunion at Quaker City in August?
nice looking car, and ya its a shame bout having to put cones arond the car but thats todays class of people
Diamond was great! designed the 12-1s for us to use also a local machine shop (Knight's Auto Parts of Commerce Twp) donated all the high quality machining. As for damage, we've got our fingers crossed, haven't opened it yet.
Chop Shop, are you saying that there were two different cars or 2 different versions of the same car? I had thought the white car was a earlier version of the green car. No/Yes? By the way thank you all for the T-Shirt. I wear it on special occasions such as blood donation.
There was only one H&M car, in 1959 it was vomit comet green and in 1960 the club got sponsored by Masons Plymouth who painted it white with advertisement along with more horse power from new parts. Our decision was to make the original version as in the beginning. This car was developed on the drawing board with stacks of math data on company time, during lunch and at home.
recreation ,i dont care, its the HIGH AND MIGHTY!i forgot how much I love this car!thanks for the pics and the raminder. Troy
Looked into it and Customs are a nightmare! Everything has to be accounted for and car must be registered. Sure would be great if it were easier.
we go back and forth all the time..Never have a problem.. but we don't sell shirts or carry anything for sale.. sure would like to have you guys come over.. all you need is a receipt saying you own the car.. and 3 pieces of ID.. several Michigan racers come back and forth. 1939fiat
ok..I hope to get over to the Dream Cruise and see you guys again... Maybe we'll bring the car .. But really ,race cars don't have a registered title..as there not licensed for the road... I think Customs gave you the " bureacratic square dance".. I can hook you up with guys who race over here ,if you like. Rick (ONDR President)
Sweet pix of one awfully beautiful gasser, Chop Shop. Me and a buddy of mine, SDRodder, from the Model Cars Magazine Forum, are lookin to build a 1/25 scale model of High & Mighty. We been gettin any and all info we can on it. I'm doin the body, and I can't unnerstand why the rear fender line is closer to the door than when it had rear fenders. Nice to see H&M is alive and well! If'n you can shed any light on the bodywork, I'd sure appreciate it. Here's the link to our thread on the MCM forum, titled "49/50 plymouth business coupe, avalible at all" http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12597 thanx, and take care of High & Mighty
Crap'n Blaque You found the right guy, I chopped the car with a 5" top that moved it foreword as it dropped down the A pillar and filled the area behind the rear window also moved the rear wheel opening foreword 10" from about the center line this made moving the rear axle foreword 12" possible, the doors were only modified by lowering the window frame. The motor sits at 12.5 degrees with the front of crank 36" off the ground. Hope this helps. I'd love to have a model myself!
Hey thanks tons, Chop Shop. I spent a good part of a day lookin at all the pics I could find of H&M, and it looked like it had at least a 4" chop, and when they (CEMA) set the roof back on the A, it moved it forward. Thanks for clearin up the fender thing too, that was drivin me nuts. Thanks for all the additional info too. Way cool. We're in the process of gettin parts, body, hemi, etc, and hope to start thrashin it together soon. We'll be postin pics on the MCM forum. You get to drive dat beauty? Thanks again.
Seams like only the engine guys get to run it at the shows I only got on it in the street a little to work out some bugs and that was not straight so it almost counts. It is hard to drive with the engine so high up and traditional 49 Plymouth suspension but the 4-link keeps it straight. Let me know if there are any other gray areas and I can post more pix of the build. Found this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXGP2IbLT9A
I found these photos of the original H&M build! (sorry, I couldn't get them to load individually) http://www.prostockhemi.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=704
Hey thanks Chop, and Benzine, for all the pix, and the video --"Oooh, HEMI, all our viewers love HEMI's" Just love seein H&M in any condition. Nice seein it up against the 5 window. Closest strip to me is Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Any chance yinz will be racin in Pa in the future? I'd love to see, and hear, H&M in person. My buddy SDRodder, and I talked, and we plan on donating the finished model to yinz guys. Thanks for the offer of additional pix to help us with our build, Chop Shop. One question - which rad hose keeps leakin? So's we can get that right on the model
It's not a radiator hose that leaks, the early Hemi's have a ton of wet bolts that go into the water jackets and the center rocker cover bolt in the right head blew out on the second run. As for Pa. last year the car was on display at Carlisle, this year we are going to the 28th Annual Mopar Nationals at National Trail Raceway Columbus, Ohio also the Woodward Dream Cruse in the Motor City and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum for the winter. It's expensive to travel with the car with no sponsor to help pay. Selling T shirts does not cover the whole expense of travel and lodging. We just had to re-do the motor and are in a hole from all the parts that were not donated. Anything early Hemi has a high price on it and we will not give up on this one. It's a treat hearing from everyone and I am amazed at all the fans that come foreword, this keep us going. Thanks for all the support! And keep buying our shirts.
where/how can we get shirts for H&M, ChopShop? Thanks for clearing up the water leak question. Be nice if'n it was that easy on the Hemi, huh. Thanks also for the schedule. Maybe I'll make the Mopar Nats. Thanks to all yinz guys keepin her runnin and showin her off
