Yeah....they make great winter beaters and they're good to tow the Ford's to the race track with. :)

  2. I've always said, "the car will tell you what color it needs to be". Or, more importantly, it might tell you what color it shouldn't be.

I had my '40 Coupe narrowed down to Black or Maroon. Was having trouble finding the "right" Maroon and had about decide Black was it. Went to a car show and saw 7 '40 Coupes, 6 of which were Black. I immediately went back to the search for the perfect Maroon, found it, and know it was the right decision for me.

Painting any car a certain color just because you like it, or avoiding a color on a specific car because you are not fond of it can be a big mistake. Just be open to what the car is trying to tell you, you Two can work it out..

Don't know if my truck is all that HAMB friendly, but in my case....
I feel the vehicle chose the colors/ design. the truck has a long flat hood , accentuated by a longer beltline.
Originally there were many primary & secondary color choices,(even hot yellow & bright orange in 1941 !! the majority of overall color schemes went like: gloss black fenders & running boards with the cab & bed receiving the second solid color.

I researched for about 6 months, magazines & the net. I found too many contemporary one color jobs. Some were nice, but not really reflective of the trucks smart design and the two colors styles of the time and use of chrome.
    I decide to :
    1. Keep one color black ( add metal flake ), the beltline is silver ( would have preferred a chrome beltline to separate the two colors as in the example of this Fairlane.
    2. Sliver would mimic Chrome.
    3. Metal flake gold ( between PT Cruiser & BMW ) Not too cartoonish , added benefit it glows at twlight.
In fact I did make a cartoon out of it !
    here's the before & after.
    good luck !
