Need a little advice. I am installing a 46 Chevy truck straight axle in a 64 Comet wagon . The axle is in and I bought some Chevy flat plate steering arms from Speedway to make the cross steering work. The axle has a disc brake conversion and requires me to put a 1 and 1/2 inch spacer between the arms and the spindals on the upper holes to clear the calipers. Is there any problem with doing this or any suggestions on should I weld the spacers to the arms or just bolt them up ?
    Thanks,Jim in Pa.

Grade 8 fastners should do it. But by welding the spacer to the arm you remove one posiable flex point.
