I am having to close my towing company as their are just to many here in ypsilanti and ann arbor and i cant run calls for little to no money as the price of diesel keeps rising

Just a thought, but do you have friends or family somewhere booming?

Maybe look into loading the towing company onto some 18 wheelers and heading to greener pa$tures. Longer you delay it the worse your resource crunch will get. Good luck.

Western Australia. The mines will pay 100k for a truck driver and more for tradesmen. They're taking all they can find.

Same with the mines in Alaska and because of mineral prices there letting the guys work all the overtime they want. Surface ops(truck drivers hauling ore down the hill ) can reach tech 5 and make over 150k a year. Check out http://www.greenscreek.com/ but this is only one of many.

Dave, my buddy lives right in your area and occasionally helps out a towing company. Haven't heard him say business was off. Anyhow, I live here in central Ohio, and guys with tow trucks aren't making alot of money towing, but they are buying every mid 80's junker they can find and s****ping them, and fixing some of the better stuff for resale. There is an Independant garage down the road from me that has a very good reputation, and they are always looking for good help. They have a guy who wants to retire, and can't because they haven't been able to replace him. I will give you thier info if you wanna PM me. Talk to you later.

have you tried monster.com? lots of job listings you won't find in the local paper, and you can search a radius around where you live.

Any way to get the local PD towing/AAA contract? Seems all the successful tow companies in my area are both.

local pd wont contract because we dont have enough trucks or more

eight years ago we had 6 employees but in the last 2 years we went to 3 and in the last year i had to fire one and lay the other off, its just been a battle here in the middle of college town with all the others as well

My wife lives in Port Huron and it's not any better up there from where you are.
Her mom was out of work for 8 months and doesn't have enough cash to leave the state to find something.
She has recently found a job making about half of what she was this time last year.
    Michigan is a dieing state.
