I know and you know im just talking smak..but hey this **** is getting out of hand.
pisses me off to no end..
no one is going to jack my car because its a 4 door and not that special..my 28 A when i get it done might be another question..who knows maybe.

the point im trying to make is..No theif says to his wife..hey im going out to jack this car tonight..If I dont come back home call the cops..
    you get what im saying?
their theifs and need to be delt with like thiefs..maybe if he was laying in a ditch some where bleeding out., he might think twice about pulling the same dumb stunt again if he servives.

install something that you can track your car with that you only know about..put some kill switch measures in you cars,..and lets watch out for eachother. hey if i was at an overnighter, and say it was me, danimal, HRLC, CGR, and a few other of us michigan rodders and any one else in that lot that night..I would take my turn in the barrel watching over all our babies.

  4. Blanket statements like this do not help. My sister in law lives there along the river, very nice neighborhood, there are some bad spots in ANY of the burbs around the cities.

Well, but sometimes you must or else you just stay home and huddle in your back room.

But this is just one more reason why we trailer our modified when we go out of town. Yea, I know whole rigs get stolen too, but at least the car isn't sitting "out there" all exposed and unlocked.

Anytime there's a group of us staying at the same motel, I'll be happy to stand a watch in the parking lot.

  7. You're right, that was too sweeping a statement. I apologize to you and to your sister and to all the good folks who live in those two towns. There are some good spots there.

Having said that, I have seen the crime stats for those two towns, and I read the papers daily, and if asked I would have recommended against staying in that town.

  8. Oh, I get out with it. And am too busy to 'huddle in a back room'! Should have mentioned the trunk lock and one door lock on my 50 Merc are inop. Kinda discourages some adventures. Gotta get that corrected. We go here and there with it, visiting friends, short day trips. Just haven't gotten into driving it to shows or parking it overnight in public. Though I admire and am grateful there are so many folks who do take their vehicles to shows, otherwise traipsing through Back to the Fifties wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable.

I wonder if these cars aren't "stolen to order". I'd think an organized group is going to p*** up the 55 Pontiac to take the 57 Chevy next door since they would be able to p*** it on easier. The way alot of the stories seem to go is that the theives take the cars quickly and are real specific about it. Either that or it was the first one they could get into.

    Hope it's found.

That ****s, but it gives me a reason to stay out in the parking lot all night long drinking beer.

damn...sorry to hear the hot rod was stolen, i hope its found.

This kind of **** just reinforces my belief that we (my family) should camp if we're heading out on a road trip or to a long distance show

I hate a thief worse than anyone but you guys scare the hell outta me talkin about shootin people. It is the stupidest thing I have heard. Because when you do..then they win. They may die, but you will spend the rest of your life away from family, away from friends, away from your hot rod p***ion, and away from everything but the s***bags that tauted you in to doing what you did. We live in a civilized society so I think you can come up with something a little more resourceful, like making said person simply disappear. And if allyall stop going to these events and missing all the fun they bring, than the ***holes of the world HAVE WON. Don't let that happen.

When one of these events is in a town, how much money does that bring into the local community? LOTS! You'd think the local police could step up their patrols when all that money is being spent in their town.

Thats a good point Leon. Not that it was needed, but not once all weekend did I see a patrol car drive thru the parking lot at the RoadRocketRumble in Indy last weekend. In fact thinking about it I can't remeber the last time I saw a patrol car cruz thru the parking lot of any hotel during a car event.

This is not new. A couple of Deuces disappeared from the motel parking lot at Columbus in 1978. Tow trucks and enclosed trailers make it quick and very hard to find them. They are out of sight in minutes.

I don't worry about them hot wiring the car. I try to make it very difficult to hook on and move the vehicle.

If that were true, there wouldn't be any thieves.

i guess you dont have to shoot the *******s..( ok take all the fun out of it)..but i dont know too many people who love to live ,that would fight with the guy holding the barrel of a .45 up in their mouth as they wait on the sherriff to show up...also power in numbers guys..thats what we need..presence..let the thief see you patrolling the lot.

and it isnt illegal to own a gun in the US..and there are ways to have one on your person , legally

I think I'm going to start taking my front wheels off. Takes about three minutes and would make it almost impossible to steal with anything but a tow truck. Crude but effective in my opinion.

  25. I lived in the neighborhood just a few blocks from that hotel for a few years. I had my vehicles broken into countless times. The first time I called the cops, they said, "get used to it." I had my truck stolen from my locked garage... it was recovered a few days later in St. Cloud, partly stripped... about a year after that, I was car jacked at a stop light in the same area... same truck. I ****in hate thieves!

Bad deal for this guy that lost his car. My GTO had a hidden fuel pump switch. Was also thinking about some line lok system that wouldn't need battery voltage to keep it engaged . Kinda hard to mave a car around with the brakes locked up. Anything could be drug but would make it alot harder.

Exactly, they'll be a little less apt to try again if they start realizing what can happen. And if they do have a weapon and try to use it on me and I have to use mine. Well that's when having that ccw will help out with not being the guy in the back of the police car when johnny law shows up to pick up the body.
