Just wanted to say thanks to the HAMB for helping me finally get this sucker pretty much built. Especially Denny and Matt (at Ionia Hot Rod Shop, who built the perimeter frame), Matt Purdy (who helped get me addicted to this stuff), Roy Montgomery (not a HAMB member, but is an old Ford Guru), and Paul Beck (ditto).

Plus a bunch of you other folks that have answered many rookie (read stupid) questions that I have asked in the past. You guys are the best.

Anyways - here it is. The pictures tell the story. I've been driving the car for a couple months now - its got about 200 miles on it. Yeah, I know, why not more? I keep tweaking it here and there - you know how it is. Still needs paint - that comes this offseason (NOV-MAR).

By the way, for those of you who are contemplating building a traditional style hot rod - just do it. Worth every penny and every minute.

    Mike

    GREAT looking roadster!
Love the stock looking motor and wheel's/caps!!
What are the chrome tube's next to the manifolds?? plug wire looms?
What are some particulars?? Trans, rear? Is that nicely detailed, stock looking small block concealing any 'goods' inside :D:D
    VERY nice!

    sorry for all the questions....:)

    Hi Mike,
Wow, I really like the way your car turned out. I like everything about it, especially the painted valve covers w/327 decals,Vette air cleaner and spark plug covers.I'm sure you're proud as a peacock. I'd like to see it in person some day. Maybe at breakfast club? Take care..........Mike

    Tony,

Those are actually old Corvette ignition shields (used to prevent radio interference from the spark plug wires/distributor on a fiberglass body). I though they looked kinda cool - so I threw them on.

The driveline is an Offy adapter mated to a '39 Ford 3 speed, '36 torque tube (with fabbed driveshaft), and a '40 rear axle.

The engine is pretty much stock. I built it like a 300 HP 327, although it has a WCFB carb instead of an AFB. Trust me, I wanted to build it up more, but I figured it was more $$$, and more chances I'd break the driveline.

    Mike,

I was actually at the breakfast club last week for about 2 minutes, before the rain hit. I saw it coming so I drove home. I can't get this thing wet cause a lot of it remains bare steel. BTW, your '32 kicks ass too my friend.

    Thanks for the info...
You did a damn nice job with that car...And as far as the motor, a 300 327 is PLENTY for that i'm sure! No need to do anymore, they made those old Impala's run strong.....so that little roadster's gotta scoot. I hate to tell ya, there's probably enough there to break stuff anyway :D
I dig the cover's, fit's in well with the rest of the stock looking mill.
    Thanks for answering..

What everybody else said + I'm jealous:eek::). Seriously, a super job of building a traditional hot rod with an updated engine. I've GOT to see this one up close.

Model A's need a Deuce frame, and yours looks real nice. You stated that paint is a coming. What color are you considering?

  21. Very nice job, is that a B'ville body ? How long did it take from start to it's present state ?
The car is just plain bitchin.
