How about a '37 Ford rearend? Anything will fit, if you have a big enough hammer. We need more details.
OK. I will be as specific as I can. 1937 Ford 2 Door Humpback Sedan 350 Chevy Engine. Stock, no idea of the year 350 transmission. Stock, no idea of the year Currently the rear is I believe a 77 Ford car, WER is on the Tag. I think the gears were 2.47 or something like that The rear end was put in poorly, this is what I have been told by many people who have looked at the car. I am hoping to get a Ch***is Engineering rear leaf spring kit. So, when I do all of this, I thought about changing the rear end. I want the car to be more of a hot rod. I was told the rear end in it is more of a highway cruiser. I would rather be more of a middle of the line, good get up and go but decent highway. Thanks for the help
granada at 58" wide wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange works well , but of course it all depends on what wheel size/offset and size tires. it has a 4-1/2" bolt circle. if you want 5-1/2" bolt circle `65-`76 bronco at 58" is good too i don't know what rear you have now , how is the width? maybe you could just change gears/pumkin
37 Humpback huh? Your going to have a nice ride. If I were you I'd stick with a 2.78-3.00 range with a th350. A Granada or a Maverick rear works great and the CE kit is a very simple way to mount one of those. Maybe your rear is OK to use as is but could use remounting. As said earlier, there's nothing wrong with using a 37-40 rear. You'll need to convert to open drive and install a torque arm if you are staying with the th350.
I used the CE leaf kit on my 37 slant back. The 9" Versaille diff I used (same as the Monarch and Granada but with disc brakes) fell right on the pins in the springs, first time. Like ****a. But before you get a new diff, see if the one you have works on the the new leaf springs - it just might. If so, then get it rebuilt / straigtened and a new pumpkin if you want.
I put a '57 Ford 9" in our '37 Humpback in '81, still there. I have 7" x 15" rear wheels with 3 1/2" backspacing and 235/70 tires---no clearance problems. I kept the stock '37 spring in it and made my own mounts to lower it . Used SAC rear radius rods, don't know if they are still in bussiness. Pete and Jake ladder bars are similar. Ground the springs leaves smooth, greased them and wrapped them with electrical tape to keep the grease in and the water and dirt out, it rides nice. The C.E. rear spring kit is nice, I have installed alot of those with both the Granada and Nova rear ends.
gnichols and 36 3-window are correct above. 35-40 p***enger car ch***is are pretty much the same, so if it's good for a car in that range, it's probably good for yours. Go to some car shows and ask around. Good luck with your project.
