I mentioned to an older feller that I was looking for a Thermador, three days later he brought me one! Wouldn't let me pay him no matter what. There's some cool folks out there for sure. I put it on, I'm stoked:

Since I cannot find a definition of a "Thermador" in the dictionary...or in a thesaurus, would you please explain what it is...???

Now you need to shine the rest up to the standard of the Thermador.

I was just enlightening a co worker about these fine things this morning. She had never heard of them. I had forgotten they were called swamp coolers.

ok i gotta ask,,mostly because ive never had one of these..
    do they really work?
would they work in a real humid location like Michigan when its 90°F and 90% humidity?

  13. I just got back from the road rocket rumble 1530 miles round trip and used mine there and back just add ice and water and pull the cord every so often oh and most of all think in your minds eye that it is working and it will ha ha

Don't work well in humid conditions, much better in the desert with dry air going in. Think of it as a swamp cooler for your car.

I would think humidity plays as much a role in those as it does in a house swamp cooler. The higher the humidity the less evaporation that takes place so less cooling effect. Plus they raise the humidity in the conditioned space.

I don't understand the "tuff guy" stance here...Vintage Air makes some nice units, Southern Air does as well...WHY would you want to be miserable while driving your hot rod just to project a "cool" image...??? Especially in humid country...

Or is it you don't want to labeled a "gold chainer" cuz you've got A/C in your hot rod...**** peer pressure and labels...get comfortable, be really "cool" and ENJOY driving the hot rod...

I've got A/C in two of my cars...and a third one is about to get it...and if my cars don't meet your "tuff guy" image...then it's your problem cuz I like it and I'll build my car the way I want to...

he's building a traditional truck. Modern A/C/ doesn't look right.
Vintage Air kicks ***...but You have to admit it doesn't "look the part" on a traditionally styled vehicle...whereas a swamp cooler does.

I didn't see any of those "icons" in your first post...that's where I got the "tuff guy" stance... I can usually figure out if it's a joke when those little icons ;) are present...I'm just not adept at hearing the laffter thru written word.

...and my A/C does cool me off nicely... TY...

And Lux Blue, thanx for the explanaiton...

I often think a Thermador would look pretty *****in' on my truck ... but it wouldn't do jack for me, living right on the humid coast.

    Congratulations on the score.

  27. Rog,
Thermador was a brand name. I don't know that the one pictured is one but they were all swamp coolers.

A friend of mine worked at a salvage yard for a while, and noticed that a lot of late model conversion vans they got in had dual air conditioners, front and rear. The front a/c is the typical in-dash style, but the rear one is a small, self contained box that fits under the back seat of the van; they look like they would be pretty easy to hide somewhere inside a car and they're pretty cheap to buy from the salvage yard.
