Looking into doing flames on car where the current color is bright red.

Anyone have any slick flame paint jobs on a bright red car?

Are you looking for colors or design?

You need to find a good artist/painter and just let it roll. The design has as much to do with how the flames look as the colors chosen.

Anyone who specializes in custom paint would have a book available to look through. Check them out and choose the guy you feel has the best grasp of flames.

IMO flames on a red car are very hard to pull off...

I would agree with that and maybe amend it to say,"damn near impossible".Of the examples shown here, the one that comes closest for me is the 33-34 Ford coupe followed by whatever that Pro car is with the purple fading to orange. The 40 is technically nice but way too confusing for me.Your eyes try to go in too many directions at once.

There was a red 59 elcamino, and also a red 58 chev truck that used to run around my area. red with black flames, but it was a double set of flames.
using the red from the car as the front set, and then black flames behind those. Just saw the elcamino at the back to the 50's show. That car has been around for at least 10 years with that paint job. maybe a Minnesota member has some pics?
