Building a 31 coupe. Going to put a early 60's 292/3 speed Y-block in it and need some help with a rear end choice. I have a 38 or so banjo rear would that work with the Y-block if I convert it to open drive? If not what should I look for at the local Pull-A-Part? Anyone know what yoke will fit the 3 speed? I think it's out of a 62 truck. Engine will be mostly stock other than 3 duce intake and headers.

If you convert the rear to open drive then the only variable will be the drive shaft which should be fairly easy to obtain and modify, if modification is necessary. The '38 banjo rear, after conversion, should work nicely in your A ride.

I have a 9 inch ford in my Tudor...I ran it going 75 plus all the way to Paso...never a whine or squeal...but I could not hear any thing from the shaking of the body, the roar of the engine, the sounds the trasmition was making or the car jumping up every time I hit a pot hole.

s-10 2wheel drive, 55" perfect size.or you can buy side gears for your banjo to accept nine inch axles from hot rod works and put late brakes on and even have it narrowed to what size you need, a little more expense but a neat way to go.

  5. Run the 38 Banjo, it will work and look good too.

I say run the banjo as well. Another option would be a '90 Toyota PU rear, measure out at 53" if I remember right.
