Billetproof NW - It was a scorcher!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wolfhound423, Jun 28, 2008.

  1. Holy ****! Nobody ever ***ociates the Pacific NW with "hot and sunny," but it was today!!! What a cooker! Still, the rods were kickin' and everybody (that could find some shade) was having a good time. I'll try and post a few of my favorite pics.

  2. Few more...the Runamuca P-40 Warhawk was (and I'm not a theme anything kind of guy) an awesome piece of work.

  3. Again...a few more shots. Man...this cold beer tastes good. I would have drunk a bunch down there in that oven if I didn't have to drive back to Tacoma this afternoon! I hope the metal flake job on the Catalina won for best paint. The guy that owned it said Har**** (Southern Cali guy - seen some of his work before on some choppers) shot it...and this was his first full car! It turned out incredible!!

  4. last batch.... The guys at the gate said they are doing it again next year...with a few improvements! Some folks were complaining about the dust from the dirt track runs...but I didn't mind. They also said that they were going to bring out more concessions (god...please! I stood in the blazing sun for 40 min for a half cooked hotdog and a diet Coke) and really try and have a decent parts swap meet area. I wish them good luck. I'll be back again next year...hopefully with my rod in running order! Next stop... Hot Rodorama on 01 August in Tacoma!!! Can't wait!!!

I couldn't believe the number of cars there. We got there at 9:30 and our registration number was 461. It seemed bigger than the first Goodguys at Puyallup.

Yeah! Great show, a lot of fun. It was hot, but in the grand stands it felt pretty cool. The guys at the Hotrod-a-rama booth were really cool. The improvents sound great, two food booths was a little tight. Can't wait for next year.

It was hot, but we still had a blast! At least the Sno-Cone lady made a ton of money. Thanks to everyone who brought their cars out, without you guys and gals there is no show. Already looking forward to '09.

  13. I took 180 + pictures but am trying to upload multiple pics from a site but I think its way to big of a file. 288 meg.
I typically use Imageshack to post on here so that you dont need to click on thumbnail to see pictures. It resizes pictures for full view but I havent used the multiple image uploads and didnt see a max so sometime today I will see if I can find a way to do this. What a great show!!!!!! Meeting all the HAMB members there was very cool. I brought my wife and she really didnt get the attraction ( addiction)I have to these cars but after this show, she has jumped right into this full tilt. she said she has never had so much fun at any other car show and i have dragged her to lots. So wait till Hotrodarama. Honey, you will be looking for a car of your own!!! Anyone know of a site that will do multiple uploads and post them as a forum friendly size.

I hope someone took some pics of that 63 Merc wagon (best wagon) to hear it was once on top of a pile s**** and forklifted off and to turn out like it did is amazing. Good job.

Neat pictures and it's refreshing to hear somebody enthused about a show and stay positive despite growing pains. Also great to hear about a bustling show amid high gas and tight wallets.

Is that an airflow grille on the red primer bobber truck?

    Great cars, people and weather.
    Thanks Alan.

  17. Yeah...I saw that little buggy creeping around the show, and I was REALLY glad I was flying solo. If my little girl saw that, my truck would have to go on the backburner for a few weeks until something like that was built and painted pink for her to cruise around in!

  18. Hey Whippet...try compressing the pics and uploading the reduced size jpegs. I had my good camera out there and each pic was 3+mb. I exported them to a file on my desktop as a smaller and lower quality jpeg so as not to blow the HAMB's tiny file size. I was able to reduce the Then, when I was done, I just dumped the whole folder in the trash and kept the original, hi-res shots. Unless somebody wants to print some "color, glossy 8 x 10's," they won't need the ****o sized shots. Good luck, and see you and the missus (on the prowl for her own car) at the Hotrodarama on 01 August!!

I was ****ing stoked when I got there and it wasn't a flop of a car show. It was worth the drive and I am happy to have been there for the first show up here. They would be stupid not to put on another one next year. Me, like a thousand other people there, probably went with the idea of not registering their car for this year's show but to scope it out to see if doing next year would be possible, the verdict: **** YES.

I heard there were 550 so cars, and there were really only a portion of the amount that I didn't feel belonged there. Tons of traditional stuff. Next year, more concessions and hopefully a swapmeet? There was a great congregation of Rods from all over the NW and I feel that the location was fitting to bring folks from all around. SW Wa Fairgrounds could have held three times as many cars as it did yesterday. I loved the show and it helps to get some first hand inspiration for us NW guys who only get 4-5 shows a year to check out.

Thanks Billetproof for getting up here and throwing a great get-together.

That was a really good show, but a little too hot to handle, but at least the beer was always cold and refreshing. There were a lot of amazing cars there and I met a lot of cool people. Thanks Keith, Beetle, Josh, Jeff, and the rest of you Coffins guys for the good times. We all had a blast. Hope to meet up with you guys again. Somebody post some more pictures. I need to find another computer that can work with my memory card before I can post some pics. but I will try to find one.

  23. The guy had a sign out that said it was the nose of a 30-something Hudson Terraplane (noted it for being unique, but forget the year). I want to say it's a '37 grill, because of the shape...but I can't be sure. He drove that worm burner (2-3" of clearance MAX!) all the way from Canada. Several guys said they almost drove off the road trying to get a look at it as it zipped down I-5

  28. The 63 MERC WAGON is owned by a good friend of mine. IT was indeed found and saved from MACS autowrecking in Port Townsend WA. It was owned and driven by our high school english teacher and baseball coach in the 80's. When Bret told me he bought "Moon" Mclurkens old car and was going to restore it I thought he was crazy. This was a 100% home garage restoration that took a couple of years. The car is affectionately known now as the "****gin wagon" and we have had way to much fun in it. There is always a full cooler of beer in the back. I was really happy to see it get the wagon award at Billetproof as the owner has thousands of hours into it.
