I realize we have an Alliance vendor in the plating and polishing ( English), and I joined the Alliance today, but I was hoping for something a bit closer to GA than Maine. What I have at the moment is the Kurtis type front radius rods and batwings purchased in black paint by the original buyer of the Brookville '31 roadster I'm building. A crate big enough is gonna be a PITA to build and heavy to ship. The GA EPD has pretty much ruined the prospect of gettting decent plating done in GA. I'm told it's no longer possible to get triple plating done in GA. I've also been told that you can still get good plating work done in Alabama, and that there's a guy over in the Newnan/Franklin/Carrolton area that has connections to get work done over there in AL and he goes back and forth to AL anyway and will help you out. Anybody here in GA know who, where, and how to contact this person? Dave
i've got a local chrome guy in daytona beach that does good work and has pretty reasonable prices. if thats any help
See if you can contact someone in the club"West Ga. Cruisers",which has a majority of members out Villa Rica way.As you know, that is damn near Alabama, and they 'prolly know of whom you speak of.
Hey Buddy - I have a guy - in Decatur that gets it done - His name is Gary - I need to dig up his card - I can get you his contact tomorrow.
Man - I can't find his card! I have looked - Josh Mills knows him - his name is Gary and his shop is in Decatur. He has done valve covers and my windshield frame for me. Awesome dude. I will keep looking.
PRO PLATING & POLISHING 3300 E PONCE DE LEON AVE #A SCOTTDALE, GA 30079-1232 404-298-0989 He did some pieces for me. He doesn't actually plate in Scottdale though. Also try: Best Metal Polishing 4418 Lilburn Industrial Way SW Lilburn, GA 30047 (770) 935-3014
Thx yall, for all the names, adresses and phone numbers! I have been doing some asking around myself, and although I don't yet have a name, address, and phone #, I have a line on the guy I had heard about also. He is a dude who lives in Newnan, and operates a metal polishing and limited amount/types of plating in his backyard, and is also tied in with a shop just over the line in Alabama. Seems he does some of their work in his shop. and some of his in their shop. Work is said to be 1st cl*** triple plate amd fairly reasonable cost. When I locate him I'll have to ask him about baking to eliminate hydrogen embrittlement, as this is the batwings and Curtiss type radius rods on my Brookville '31. Last pieces you'd want to be breaking! I've now got the initial fit up of parts and pieces completed and am dis***embling for painting, and in the case of these parts, plating. Helluva lot of work done, but lot's more to do! When and if I get this plating done by this guy from Newnan, I'll report back with contact info and review of the work and prices. Dave
Hi DOM..I have a line on a shop in the Gainsville area. I'll get the name, address and phone for you next week. Rich
