suedesled felt a thread like this would be considered spamming. hell, i don't care. how many people would be interested in a 6x2 intake for the desoto hemi?

i saw the 6x2 nailhead intake that nw speed makes on ebay and inquired if they had plans to produce one for the desoto. they replied if there was enough interest, something like 20 orders for them, that they would consider it.

i know you're probably aware that desoto speed parts are harder to find then their dodge and chrysler siblings. i remember only one log intake for a desoto on ebay in the last 3 or 4 years, not to mention the prices on them.

there has to be at least 20 desoto owners here on the hamb. anyone besides me interested in running 6 carbs?

I'm down for one, I have an N.O.S. Drag Star 6x2 for my 330, but I had to buy another Hemi to get it, now I need one for it too!

  4. I may be, depending on cost, six carbs cost a lot to set up. But what Desoto would it be for. I have a 55 291 Fireflite and I think that an intake for 330 would not fit.

Put me down for a strong maybe, leaning towards a yes.

  5. Sign me up, depending on cost of corse. I was planning on building my own log manifold, this would save some time, and effort, for other areas. Dean

Well, since Rick posted the thread and I see some interest. It would be best to build an intake with most interchange. Cost would be in the 300.00 range. With 20 of them I could recoup the cost of the patterns and molds. Plus the time in flow testing and sample testing. Don't the desotos run all the same heads?

correct me if i'm wrong, but a log style intake should work on both low and tall deck desotos. port spacing and bolt pattern should be the same. if you were using a one piece manifold, then yea, you would need a wider manifold because the heads are higher and further away from each other.

heads interchange within the family but do not cross over to either the dodge or chrysler.

price? $300 ain't bad. maybe a hamb discount? one can only wish.

anybody else? i know i recognized a few of you bidding on the weiand 4x2 intakes that went for $650 and up on ebay.

Well it definitely will be a log manifold and I will design it to use 94's 97's and 2jets. I will sell the first 20 manifolds to HAMB members for 270.00 the reat will be at 329.00. Once we get an order and non refundable deposits I will start the molds. It will take 8-10 weeks to get a finished product. I am always excited to build something new. Thanks!

I just want to go off tack a little, I have seen the 4x2 manifolds for the Desoto motors, thing is they don't have any provision in them for the water crossover between the heads. I know they could be made with flexible pipe but there is also no provision for the thermostat housing that is cast into the manifold. I am new to Hemis but I have a 276 Desoto that I want to put in a `29 coupe and would like to run a 4x2 setup. Any Info anyone??? Cheers, Kerry.

it will fit the 276 291 330 and the 341 desoto hemi.

as for the coolant exiting the heads, i've seen hoses run to a remote thermostat housing or you can have an extra inlet added to the upper tank of the radiator and run the coolant hoses from the heads to it's own inlet on the radiator, sort of like a flathead v8. of course you only need the single lower outlet back to the pump.

Someone post a pic of a desoto for me. I think we can build a 3 piece system for the crossover that is expandable using sections of radiator hose. The motor I have for mockup is heads and block only.

    I'm definately interested.
I just posted a couple of weeks back in the cl***ifieds looking for a multi carb set up for a 1956 330.

  19. Change my maybe to a hell yes, I can swing under 3 bones for a new manifold. After all it will sit on my garage wall waiting for some carbs to be located, built, set-up.

It will be my retirement manifold. HA!!

Ok guys; here's what we will do for you. Everyone in on the original 20 will recieve a 6x2 manifold which will fit all the Desoto Hemis. A water crossover of a three piece design to accomidate the different deck heights . All for 279.00 If yuo decide to buy one later it will be 349.00 for the manifold and 79.00 for the crossover. We need confirmed orders of 50% non refundable deposits to start the patterns. I will start when I get the first deposit and continue working as we get orders until we get to 20. Then we can cast them. This way nobody needs to be concerned about their money being sat-on! Call the shop and confirm when you are ready 503-829-2692.

marty has told me he has a print drawn up. we have 5 or 6 people so far that want an intake. we need to at least double that figure and get a deposit sent in to get him to start casting.

or we can all watch ebay and pay $700 and up if one does come up for auction. anybody on another message board who can bring it up? you don't have to tell them about the hamb discount. just see if anymore people are interested.

Hey! you guys are serious! I like that. I got back from building somw tires and found out we had some deposits. I will get started on the pattern next week. I have enough depos***s to get about half way. So keep em coming. It would be nice to have the mold done at the same time we get enough orders. Thanks, Marty

well damn, since i started this thread, i'd better get my deposit in. marty, i'll call on monday.

i'm just getting back to work. stepped off a ladder on may 1st and hyperextended my knee. tore the ACL, cartilage, meniscus, hymen, etc. i had surgery a month ago. i'm walking without the crutches for the first time in 2 1/2 months.

i still can't kick the pan, but at least i'm able to hold it up and work the brake. doc says a couple more weeks of therapy should do it.
