Luckysgal and I arrived at the Motel 8 in Gallipolis around 8:30. Unfortunately we didn’t realize everyone else was staying at the Holiday Inn. We ended up hanging out with everyone there till 4:00am. The next day rbroadster and the AJ met us for breakfast then we headed to the show around one. The band was great, I got a fried Spam sandwich from GMC Bubba, and we found out nine people can hide in Robe’s wagon. I finally got to meet Ryan and personally thank him for this community. Hands down the best and most genuine people I’ve ever met have been through the HAMB. Those friendships wouldn’t have been possible without him, and it was cool to finally shake his hand and let him know how much this whole deal is appreciated

Then the rains came and everybody huddled under their EZ ups. After a half hour or so the weather cleared up and it got HOT. Around five o clock a little group of us got together and went to this cool diner downtown. After dinner which Robe picked up for the whole lot of us, we went and took some pictures over in Point Pleasant

Then the rains came again. My car is hard enough to see out of on a regular day but when it rains the spray from the front wheels ends up directly in your face as well as all the rain because I sit so far back. The windshield in that thing is pretty much for show. As we were flying over the bridge my visor broke off on the driver’s side and dropped right in my field of vision. Luckysgal undid her seatbelt, stood through the roof in the rain and ripped it the rest of the way off and tossed it on the floor

We were really bored back at our room when Robe and Paul showed up in Paul’s 58 and brought us back to the Holiday Inn. Ryan and Joyo were outside with Megan, Denise, and a bunch of others so we grabbed a luggage dolly and filled it with our cooler and a bunch of food. Luckysgal proceeded to whip up some cheddar brats on her camp stove and fed anyone who was hungry. We stayed out there all night and had a great time with everyone.

Who knew you could have that much fun in a hotel parking lot with your clothes on? I think Ryan was a little disappointed about the way things turned out but I know I speak for everybody there when I say we had a blast. We got to see our friends from around the country, we got to go out and play with our cars unlike most shows, and we all made the best of the situation. Besides, if that movie didn’t start till late, I don’t think anyone was sober enough to make it back to the theatre. So all and all it was a fantastic weekend, and I can’t wait till next year.

Vicki and I had a great time as well.

No need for Ryan to feel badly over that which he had no control. I was disappointed that there weren't more folks there, but we used the time to meet new folks and visit with others we've known for a while.
Maybe third time's the charm, otherwise it might be time to consider going somewhere where a show along the lines of the Cinematic will be more appreciated.

Megan did a swell job organizing breakfast and the cruise afterwards. How was she to know the bridge was closed for repairs? She sure brought work to a stop when she marched over to ask directions from the workers <
Regardless, the route was well thought out and do***ented. We would cruise with her and Matt any time.

I'd like to say that Coop31, Todd and and his wife Carren were given an award also. When they told us about it at dinner Saturday evening they were beaming! I think it is well deserved as they have a beautifully executed car that sees its share of road miles.

And,,,, Saturday was their wedding anniversary! How cool is that? Celebrating your anniversary at a car event! Congratulations! I planned to announce it, but they were snuggled in the coupe smooching, which is what you do with your sweetie, at the drive in, right?

So from Vicki and me, thanks to everyone with whom we shared food, drink and comraderie.
The HAMB group knows how to throw a party.

Soon we can do it again, at the big show, in Joplin.

    Don't be jealous!

    Green isn't your color! :D

We missed you man. Well, at least we missed the HAMB crack.

No killer squirrels, but that giant moth had me shaking a little.

We have a ton of pics too, but I'll have to get AJ to post'em.

GREEN!!!??? You bet! I go to these events for the people, the show is secondary. When the weather turns and the show is dead/delayed and all you got left is the best part....the people! Looks like the ussual great cast of characters showed and and that everybody had a great time.

Give AJ a hug for me.

What, are you the ****erfly whisperer?

I hope cinematic marks a third anniversary. It looks like you guys had a great time. Next year I will have the northern version of the ugly truck there (Sorry Richard D, my truck is uglier).

****erfly?!?!? C'mon Todd, that was the Mothman. Novatattoo had his 57 Ford truck there so you'll probably have some company next year. I wouldn't say its ugly however, it is the least cool thing in your garage:p

Got to keep that beautiful Fat Lucky interior protected from the elements sometimes. However even the top couldn't save her seat from drunk guys who can't hang on to their beers:mad:

Too bad??? I think not. There were actually guys that left that event and came to the Cinematic stating that the National Trails event was getting rained out.

Thanks for the pictures, as a first time event for me, everyone welcomed us with open arms and were extremely nice. This was one of the very best shows we have attended with so many things in common with everybody, it was great. Also I would like th thank Ryan for putting so much effort into this show, it is a ton of work, plus if you haven't met Ryan he was not what I expected, he is a really cool guy to say the least. I would like to thank Ken and Vickie for making us feel as one of the group, they very nice people. Plus Ryan gave me one of the really cool Speaker awards when it was over, what a honor! Count us in for next year.

I still hope we can coordinate this better next year so folks go to both the same weekend.

This looks like it was a great time.

I can only speak for myself when I say I did not go to National Trails last year when the Hot Rod Reunion was there so I'm certainly not going to go for any other event held there. I don't like the track, period. It has no personality, no cool vibe and I certainly would not give up any of the events surrounding the whole Cinematic weekend to attend anything else that weekend, anywhere.

    Others mileage may vary ;)

I like NTR. I would have liked to have attended the events of this last Saturday there but if it falls the same day next year as the Cinematic, I'll still be attending the Cinematic.

So your telling me that every event location that you go to over the course of the year has personality and cool vibes? Sure an older track would have been great, but is it not more of the people you are hanging out with? doing what you like to do the most?

But it also sounds like no matter what else was happening that weekend you would go to the Cinematic....even if that changed venues.

What did the Cinematic have...besides a cool old movie theatre location....to make it stand out? Just asking.....not trying to get **** stirred up.

I would have done both shows if they were different weekends. NTR was not bad at all for the HRR last year (contrary to what others have said). It was just bummer timing for this event.

  25. Looks like such a fun time! Love the pics, especially these ones.

Who owns that crazy purple convertible?! :D

    Glad you all had fun.

Friday night 46 of us all ate dinner together at a BBQ restaurant then proceeded to go on a "ghost hunt" organized by Megan and lead by a guy that knows local lore. Then back to the hotel to hang out and socialize with everyone. The next morning a large group went out to breakfast together then on a countryside cruz, again organized by Megan for everyone's enjoyment. The Cinematic didn't start till 11am so there was plenty of time.

Folks went out to dinner together on Saturday night, some went back and watched the movie, others chose to hang out in the hotel parking lot. On Sunday a group cruised togehter to Dayton where we got two personal tours of car collections. One being John Dixon's and the other being The Egyptian's. Both locations in themselves would be worth hours long drive but put them togehter with weekend long events and you've got three full days worth of hot rod fun.

It's not about just the one event (Cinematic itself) BUT about the whole weekend "package". I don't see that "package" in the Hell on Wheels" event.

Sounds like you might not have read my "adventure" report from last years Cinematic.

After reading last years report, and seeing all the activities at this years Cinematic, you too might chose differently next year. In any event, whichever event folks chose to attend, they should not made to feel bad about it. Keep in mind, these are my views that I am stating.

Damn....I didn't know about going to the Egyptian's. I would have made a better effort to have gotten up to tag along on that one.
That guy was my idol when I was a preteen. I can remember him coming to Indy for the U.S. National drags a few years in a row. He always had a different chopped mid sixties Riviera, multicolored, lowered, etc... I thought he was the coolest dude going, he left one hell of an impression on me.
Had a oppourtunity about 15 years ago to purchase a 76 El camino that he chopped and used as a shop truck. He did nice work.

His car/art/parts collection under his 58,000 square foot warehouse is just incredible. Words can not describe the cool **** inside, include one of the Riv's you are probably referring to. Oh yeah, and the Roach is next to his HOT TUB! I fell in love with the dude on Sunday....thankfully he's single :D

I took a TON of photos and will upload to Photobucket tonight and post the link for your viewing pleasure. Maybe NEXT time I invite you along somewhere you'll take my invitation seriously huh???:p
