Well thats only true About the people on this & any other board that need to have HEROS to look up to & copy what they wish they could dream up.

I dont like these cars much but Appreciate the work that is Quality like what i have seen Plowboy do.. And as for 'Ol Skratch & Weesner, They DRAW this shit to look cool like the Old ODD ROD cards from when we were kids... Just cus it looks cool on paper dont mean it will translate well in the real world

As for this statement, Those who dont like it are the people WHO HAVE built somthing and just dont see wasting time, cars & parts to build abortions such as this. Check the background of the NAY SAYERS.. They have built stuff.

Its the FNG's that showed here from 'OL STOOL RODZ That are bangin the drum

You seem to Love this car and say some os "actually nevr built anything" .... Post up somthing YOU built..
One of mine is the avatar Built a couple yaers ago by He & I as well as my daughters "T" roadster & a Gasser in the works

I like it....I'd change a bunch of things...the grill for sure....probably add scallops and pinstripes....chrome a few things....make it real flashy and show-car looking....I think it's a riot....I pretty much look at every car as raw material....and very rarely see a car that I wouldn't change to my own taste....you have to keep an open mind or you limit yourself to the norm.........

  6. There were alot of opportunities for that car that were missed. It could have been made into a really unique ride.

IMHO, the builder missed them all, its just another 'left over' car made into a "roadster."

  7. It could be cool with some nicer finishing touches...a sculptured grill, white tuck and roll, and lots of chrome. Maybe a bubble top.

As referring to FNG, thats an invalid statement as I have been a HAMB member longer than you have:confused:

There are plenty of talented, well respected builders who don't like this car. They give their reasons for not liking it, what they would change, would could be done better, etc. Its called constructive criticism and its useful to help both builds and builders get better.

A flamejob is a negative post just to be negative and demeaming. To put others down to make one's self feel better. You seem to have an inordinate amount of these that account for your "senior"ship title. If being senior requires you thread 1500 flaming posts thats more of a hollow title that shows a lack of respect.

I have no problem will people not liking the car, heck its not even my car. Even though they may not like it, it shows that the wheels are turning and ideas are being processed.

  10. Are you sure DESOTO came from the OSR board? I really doubt that.

I love it. Not that it matters as I'm still a FNG. He should have closed up the space behind the seats and maybe added a bubble headrest of some sort. Plus the rear end is too plain for such a Space Age custom. He should have started with a late fifties Ford like in BAD ROD's avitar. A lower and wider radiator shell would be nice too. +1 on the scallops also.

John, I don't think being an FNG means you can or can't like something. Being an FNG probably does mean that you haven't built anything in your life:D

Thanks for the vote of confinence Sammy! Ha Ha Ha

If I built that car it wouldn't look a lot different, but I ain't gonna knock a guy for trying. Since everybody thinks it is easy to do, I say go for it and let's see how "You" would do it.

If it were mine, the wheelbase would have been shorter, the body would taper more to the cowl allowing for a better looking transition to a smaller firewall, the body would be two toned, the frame would be painted pearl white, and would have pearl white upholstery, the windshield would be different, and so would the grille. If you aren't much on fabrication, you could buy this car, refine it a bit and make it a pretty flashy ride I think. So far, I'd say it ain't too bad for not spending a whole lot of cash on it. I totally understand not having any money to finish a car out.

There are things that I would do differently on every car I have built. but you would only know that by doing it instead of talking about it.

Nope.. he must have stole my name....... I did however go on there and was Banned for poking fun at a Bo Huff thred... Took about 6 post's

Chilli.... You prolly seen me on the BlackBoard.

You may have been a member longer than me, but i really dont use the HAMB as a Gauge to determine if one is a REAL car guy or a Band Wagon Jumper...

I see some guys here that are AWSOME car builders, I see guys that are RICH FUCKERS that bought there way in & i see people that have NO CLUE of what a TRADITIONAL car should look like or be built like.

Take PLOWBOYS wierd cars, They are well constructed and Finished to show car specs, Not some half assed cut up non~proportioned Shit box like this lil Tempest.

I know its not your car, But you say things like the NON~BUILDERS are the ones who dont like it....... Well What have you built ?

I dont claim to be a PRO BUILDER like Many here do, But i have built a couple and they are TRADITIONAL cars that Hvae the LOOK and the right parts and stance, ETC ....

De Soto, I removed the misquote in reference to the OSR board, that was my mistake. And how dare you make fun of Bo Huff, lol.

I probably could have phrase the Non Builders quote. I did say many but I din't say ALL who didn't like it. I did check the posts of those who flamed it and most didn't build a thing.

Its ok to not like it, its not your traditional ride, and may not belong in the mainstream of the HAMB. It does belong in the fringes, the outskirts per say.

I know you have seen a lot in your time, I am sure many things that have failed that I couldn't even fathom. I respect that.

I don't use the HAMB as a be all, end all. It is a useful forum to gain a pulse of what is happening in the traditional world.

Man this thread just turned into a bunch of old men beating each other with their canes. Sheesh! :D

I remember thinking the same thing, if its small, it has to be somewhat easy to build. Then I saw the Atomic Punk thread, and within two pages was like "Fuck. That." There is probably more work in 5 square feet of that car than my whole Merc. Tons of talent and imagination not to mention skill going into a build like that.

That said, I don't hate this car...seems like a low budget attempt at a 60's show rod. Cant fault the guy for trying, he could be building some tuner piece of shit instead.
