have any of you guys shipped a car from San Francisco to Melbourne? Long Beach is a hell of a lot further from sacramento than SF is. Who did you use?
I have only ever used LA or Seattle never heard of anybody shipping out of San Francisco, probably the Port there is called Oaklands from memory. I know a lot of livestock is shipped from there and maybe even other mine product but never heard of cars. I guess it is about what kind or suitable ships that stop there. Keep us posted as we could all something.
All I can say is that whoever the shipper is, try to get the facts and what you will pay nailed down in writing, first. They all promise lots, all inclusive no more to pay figures etc. But, there always seems to be "extras." hasn't happened to me personally, but it has to everyone I know who have been through this. I'm sure you've seen all the ads in the car trader mags - big grain of salt. Sorry I can't make a recommendation. Also, it seems you get what you pay for to an extent as far as care in handling, how things are packed etc. so factor that against the quality of what you're shipping.
Yeah ring Ray, he knows everything but dont get him on a bad day or like me, you will do a post like this and never call him again.
sacramento to LA-Long Beach is 400 miles sacramento to Oakland is about 100 miles I think you get get a rolling car shipped to LA for $250-$300 max its probably better to ship it with a company that has done OZ shipments before.... Beaulieu
Ray can get it done, or try Roly Leahey. Failing that PM Rat *******, he recently bought a car into Melb. Doc.
Little advice I have learned. Dismantle the car, so you can ship it as parts. Make sure the bill of sale, and any and all paper work is copyed 5 tiimes (for all pring eyes)and keep all originals with the car. Get them noterized if you have too. See what a container cost is, ship it all together. You can ship parts freight out of Oakland, hence calling it parts
I'm picking stuff up from Ray tomorrow. Only took 6 months!!! Some stuff has taken longer. He's told me serveral times he uses 3 week boats. I'm yet to experience that! Don't get me started.
Try asking the ozrodders.com people, or maybe PM Brandy or even rat *******, they've done some shipping stuff together, dunno where from...
i used mustangs of melbourne.they took care of everything,ie customs both ends.but i suggest the you buy something with a clear ***le or youll have headaches.cost me about 3500 from memory that was 3 year ago.next time ill just go through california shipping direct.thats where i dropped it off, they have a web site just google it dude.buy two cars put em in a 40 footer and only pay about a grand extra.good luck
